These are shorter than the advertised 2.6", they are 2.1". But they hold a good portion of rice, any more would probably be too much. I returned the first set because there were glaze pops in two that I was afraid would chip, second set is fine. They are thin but seem to be sturdy. Have handwashed thus far but everyone else seems to put them in the dishwasher without issue. Got the matching shallow plate bowls that are thicker. Now working on getting the large ramen bowls and donburi bowls that match also. So far, Amazon doesn't seem to stock them but it is cost prohibitive to ship from Japan. The rice bowls also make a nice dessert dish. ... show more

Was happy (even grateful) to be able to find classic Japanese porcelain rice dishes in blue & white. But one star off because they are not anywhere near as pretty as those available in the past. But still good (ordered 2 more boxes).
