Really happy with this purchase! Bought this for grinding large pills for my 65lb. American Staffordshire Terrier. She will not take them. This little mortar and pestle grinds them up quickly and evenly with little effort. Now we can mix them in with her food and she gets her medicine! Very comfortable in the hand. It doesn't take up much space. It is heavy and solid for it's size. Easily cleans with mild dish soap. I haven't tried it in the dishwasher. It is a nice bright white and is actually very cute sitting on the kitchen counter. I do wish it came with a little brush for getting all the fine powder out, but that's about the only negative I can think of. Really nice for small tasks!! This is just what I love. A great but inexpensive product. This simple product has great design. This simple product has great function. And this simple product has a 195O's price. The mortar is nice and low to the ground so it won't ever tip over. The Pestle is small... but big and fat. It simply crushes everything. The design is also beautiful in its simplicity and extremely solid in its construction. I bought it for large solid pills which I am having trouble swallowing for some reason. These crush those perfectly. It might not be big enough for a large Mexican dinner... but for smaller portions it is simply ideal. And only 1O dollars. What a great deal for a great product. I purchased this for my elderly mother who can't swallow large pills. It is perfect for her to use. Slick on the outside, but rougher on the inside that works or smashes the pill. The only downfall I see is if someone has poor eyesight and mashes a white pill, it would be hard to see if they get it all out of the container. Otherwise, perfect size, perfect weight and works like it should. ... show more

It works great to crush hard pills like vitamins. The rough surface is perfect for that and it washes up easily. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the pestle handle is just a tiny bit short and my fingers sometimes hit the edge of the mortar. It's not enough to hurt so I readjust and grind away. ... show more

I needed something to break down my newest RX meds into a powder, and this little set did a fantastic job. It's hard for me to grip things, but the shape of this pestle made it easy to hold and use. Can't recommend it enough!

Needed a mortar/pestle to crush my pet's nightly meds. Did not want anything really ornate or big. This is PERFECT. Shiny white ceramic (or some such), except for the bottom of the bowl and the crushing end of the pestle, which they left unfinished.
