  • Great for small projects
It is hard to line up on opposite sides of a long paper but very easy to use

  • Room for improvement, but for a craft-friendly, low-use bookbinding punch, this might do the trick.
Upon receiving the IMLIKE hole punch kit, I noticed the lack of English instructions. Generally speaking, hole punches don't require instructions, and as far as limiting yourself to the contents of the box, things are really straightforward. To that point, on using the hole punch itself, the plastic body felt a bit shaky—as if I might break it on extended use. It's a feeling I've had with other craft-focused custom hole punches before, though, so I suppose its the nature of this kind of niche product. That said, though, it punched through what I believe is 24lb paper (noticeably a bit thicker than regular copier/printer paper) as well as 24lb paper doubled up with relative ease. Beyond those two examples, I've had some brief use on standard printer paper with similar success, but might err on the side of fewer sheets per punch for consistency's sake and for that of a clean hole. Also included are a number of butterfly clip-style bindings, which seem fine, if a bit limiting. It may be worth considering a clip or two with more prongs to provide a bit more variety in bound material sizes, especially since the device makes it so easy to continue punching holes at an evenly spaced clip thanks to the two guide pegs on the device. Admittedly though, where I think the value lies is in the stapler itself, not the coils—and that's what led me to mention the lack of English instructions. With this kind of convenient holepunch, you can buy spiral coil in tons of colors to use in binding your materials, but it took my measuring the punched holes to determine this is most likely a "3:1 pitch" punch, meaning three holes per inch. 3:1 is a bit less common than the 4:1 pitch of four holes per inch, but you CAN buy 3:1 pitch spiral coil here on Amazon, so I'm going to order some to report back on binding success/failure with it, as the butterfly clip-style bindings are a bit too cutesy for me. (edit: I ordered 3:1 coils and they indeed fit perfectly! So don't feel stymied by the few binding clips that come with this kit.) Just having that printed on the box in English may help a ton, especially since I'm not sure whether the information on the packaging includes the detail on pitch—it looks like it only mentions dimensions of holes punched and margins between holes (in millimeters). In short, for simple crafting purposes—purposes in which you'd only need the contents of the box—this will certainly suffice. But if you want to do some small-time bookbinding on a scale beyond what's included in the box, it seems like there's definitely more that this holepunch CAN do, as long as you make sure you're buying the right spiral coil to finish the job. Will report back to gauge if this stands up to longer term use! ... show more

  • Cute and effective
Item comes in a colorfully marked box, but all of the writing is in Chinese. If you need instructions, you will need to refer to the Amazon page. The binder and combs are individually wrapped in plastic bags. The binder is a small, plastic hand held device, like that of a mini-stapler. It seems sturdy enough for small jobs. It punched through 3 sheets of 20lb paper without issue. I was also able to punch through one side of a manilla folder with a little extra force. I like that the holes are measured out so that you can hole punch an entire page for larger combs. As someone else mentioned, you will need 3:1 combs. The bindings are hard to get apart. The two outside clips actually slide sideways and the rest will come apart. They easily clip back together. They seem sturdy and can hold a decent amount of sheets. The pages flip smoothly on them, though one of my combs came broken. The middle combs would not snap shut, so the paper kept getting stuck in the gaps. As a homeschool family, this would be good for a craft or small job. I would not suggest if you are trying to bind an entire printed curriculum, as it would get tedious. ... show more

  • easy to use
This is easy to use and make small flip books. It doesn't do more then a couple of pages at a time so it does take a little bit to poke the holes. I just did it while I was watching tv so it didn't seem like it took that long. The bindings are hard to get apart. Thankfully had a tool from a set I had before and that popped them open very easily. I am happy with this little gadget. It made making small books for my youngest very easy and he was super happy. The pages flip smoothly and don't get caught like I have had happen with bigger sets. ... show more

  • Easy to use; portable; great item to have in my desk!
I got this to bind a few pamphlets at work because our comb binding machine was out of commission and I was in a pinch. I am so pleased with it! It is super portable but punches well. It is obviously not heavy duty like a full size comb/ coil binder punch, but this is definitely good quality for what it is. It is about the weight of a very nice quality craft punch. Another reviewer noted that this was a 3:1 pitch punch. I ordered 3:1 pitch binding coils and they fit almost perfectly. I had to pull every so slightly to stretch them, and then they lined up great with the punched holes. Also, this punch has a raised "peg" (for lack of a better word) on one side that allows you to line up already punched holes and continue punching. So for instance, I punched the long edge of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I punched the first 5 holes, then moved the page over so a hole could rest over the peg, and punched again. This ensured that the holes aligned with each other even though I had to make multiple punches along the page. This is a very handy feature! I haven't used the included binding coils yet, but they appear to be nice quality. Again, this is not for heavy duty/ large quantity binding. But it stood up to my making 40 pamphlets and is still going strong! ... show more
