    • Works great if you charge it appropriately, a bit harder than we were expecting.
To all the people who state this ball doesn't stay lit are either not doing it right, or just plain don't understand what they bought. The ball works as advertised and does a decent job in very dark environments if you charge the ball appropriately. Put it in front of a car headlight or halogen, and you are good for a full game. Better yet, hit it with a blacklight and you will really have no problem. If you dont have an older tube light, run to spencers or buy a blacklight flashlight off amazon. Really cheap and useful in its own. I am considering buying the blacklight LED strips to line the top and bottom of the net, so you can see what you are aiming for and should put out enough to boost the ball visibility. It only loses points because the ball is a bit harder than the normal one we use. Other than that, it will get the job done. ... show more

    • Glow Factor Is Extremely Weak - Use a Laser Pointer With It
I purchased the Mikasa VSG Glow in the Dark volleyball for an event we were having for a group of youth. We were doing a glow-in-the-dark volleyball night at our local church. We were in a basketball/volleyball gym that was completely dark, so it was an easy test for this volleyball. We had purchased glow sticks and had them taped to the floor for the outline of the volleyball court and also had them taped across the top and bottom of the net. It was a really cool sight and a lot of fun. With regards to the Mikasa volleyball, the quality of the ball is very nice, and it provides a nice soft hit unlike some balls that really hurt when you play. We charged it up in the sun for a long time but found that the longevity of the glow was extremely short. After only a couple of minutes the glow of the ball was too weak to make it very playable. Luckily, I had my son's laser pointer with me. What I did after every other serve was to shine the laser pointer on the ball while the server spun it around. This only took a couple of seconds, but it made a bright glow pattern (tracks from the laser pen) on the ball that made it very visible in the dark gym. It was tedious, but it worked. Without the laser pen it would have been too difficult to play, and taking it out to charge in the light every couple of minutes would have been completely impractical. Get the ball, but get a laser pen. Then you'll have a lot of fun! ... show more

Do not waste your money. It doesn’t glow in the dark. I left in direct sunlight for a week outside and it did not glow at all.

A must buy, it’s not too hard since it’s a beach ball so it’s good for younger kids to play with. It actually glows in the dark which is cool. Arrived great, the inflation was good, totally worth the prize.

    • Not bright but still a good feeling ball
I was hoping for something bright enough to keep playing as the days get shorter. I got this, and a ChargeBall to try out. I was ultimately disappointed by both. The Mikasa one isn't bright enough to use, or at least doesn't stay bright enough to use for more than a couple seconds. I had both portable UV and white lights to charge things with, they just didn't last. If I were rating it for brightness alone, it probably would have been 1 star. But it's still priced in line with the cheaper Mikasa balls and still feels good to play with. Just don't expect magic, even if you've got a black light to rapidly charge it with. Hoping for better luck with LED powered balls, but the reviews on most of those have seemed pretty bad too. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. It came already inflated (even though I was expecting the opposite, so I got an air pump). The material looks nice to use in a pool, cause it doesn’t absorb too much water.
