I really wanted to like this coffee grinder as it was heavy and had large flat burr blades. At first it worked very well but then it started to stop working as it would very easily get clogged. It didn't come with any cleaning instructions so I searched the web and came across some youtube videos on how to disassemble and clean it. I proceeded to do this and then I came to find out that the clear plastic chute inside had 2 of the static dissipation wires disconnected (they were broken off). It seemed like they used some cheap glue to mount them and they were just hanging there not connected. I then noticed the clear plastic chute was cracked and broken. I wasted a lot of money on this grinder. I will contact the manufacturer to see if they can mail me a replacement plastic chute so I can fix it and donate it to someone else. I plan on buying a new grinder from a more reputable company, perhaps even a manual hand operated one. I would give this grinder 0 stars if given a chance. ... show more

I did a huge amount of research before buying this grinder. I've had it several weeks now. First, the hype has been huge (do your online research and you'll see online groups dedicated to this grinder and comparing it to other high-end grinders/espresso/pourover grinders costing much more) but still, this was a lot of money for me. 1. It is an absolutely solid machine that came perfectly calibrated out of the box. I'm not an engineer and moreover an espresso newbie, and was scared to death that I'd have to calibrate the burrs, etc. Nope. And that's what others have reported as well. This feels like a commercial machine for home use. No plastic parts except for the chute under the chute cover, and the optional coffee bin (which I only used while seasoning the burrs). 2. V. 2 has a plasma generator (deionizer) to address the fine chaff that is inevitable with a fine grind machine. (My Vitamix produces chaff when it fine-grinds any grain and most other dry substances). It works. Really well 3. There's a lot of online discussion about seasoning the burrs--meaning, running cheap coffee beans through it to lightly coat the burr edges. I found I didn't need to, but if you do, keep in mind this is a single-dose coffee grinder. It will likely clog when overwhelmed, esp. since the burrs are set flat (horizontally). If you do season, set it at coarsest grind and don't do more than 30-50g at a time. If this is too detailed for you or you're not an espresso drinker, just know that this caliber of functionality is here to "grow" with you when you're ready. I spend an aggravating few weeks opening it up and cleaning it out till I figured this out--but also I got to know the machine and its build very well and am no longer intimidated. It's a beautiful item. 4. I asked the seller a bunch of questions and got prompt, correct, detailed answers every time. Every. Time. 5. The photo needs to be updated. Version 2 has the plasma generator/de-ionizer leads on the chute, which you can't see, but it comes with a metal cup, not plastic, and matching metal collar--both have machined grooves. Q: what is the metal? 6. There are many videos online that can answer any question you have. 7. Seller is able to install SSP burrs (which it also sells) if you buy them. I ended up not buying them for now, and made the right decision because the stock burrs make for stellar classic espresso that's exactly my preference. ... show more

****update**** I had a replacement hopper sent to me after I reported the broken hopper to the seller. 5 stars to the seller and Thank you! As far as the hopper, it does what it is advertised. It's heavy duty and improved from ver 1 (of the 64). I received the unit today. The unit is well-built, solid, and heavy. I can also tell it's a very powerful unit. When I turn it on, I hold it for a sec so it won't move. The hopper is a thin piece of plastic, and I will need to reach out to the seller to have a replacement sent to me. As you can see in the photo, it has a large piece of broken plastic. I don't know how it could have happened; the box is not damaged. I would hate to exchange the entire unit because of a broken hopper. ... show more

If you like a creamy body Italian espresso, this is the grinder for you, very sturdy and simple to use. I'm an Italian guy very demanding when it concerns espressos. I'm also the owner of a couple of branding grinders, including a conical-burrs one and this is by far the best for the price. I had also an excellent experience with Luke, the owner of miicoffee, he is a very kind and knowledgeable person, always available to address my technical questions. So, I strongly recommend the miicoffee company if you are looking for a DF grinder. The Italian stock burrs (Italmill) mounted by default in this grinder are more than ok for a very good espresso.
