I was skeptical after reading reviews but I thought I'd take a chance. Happy I did. Yes the motor is noisy and I think I've gotten used to it. Arrived fully charged. Holds a charge for a good while. Eventually turns itself off when not touched for a few minutes. Highly recommend.

The product is cool. The motor is strong but stuff tends to get wrapped up in it, including the attachments provided. It's pretty loud, not only is it rolling on my hardwood but it's servos are loud. Itd be nice if this was made of like a hard silcone rather than hard plastic. My cat did love the toy though! He enjoyed it as long as it's lasted less than 10 months the battery got worse and worse and I have been diligent on not over charging it or leaving it dead long. It's got general wear, but it's been well taken care of. So a little dissapointed given the money spent that the thing won't even charge anymore. My cat has the attention span of a gnat. She has everything to play with. Balls to bat that I replace constantly because they end up under couches or who knows where. She is just not one to play with things most cats play with. A few nights ago, II had worked late and was now in bed, and she started meowing. Of course, I jumped out of bed, and she met me as I got to the door, leading me to the window in the dining room. It wasn't the window, it was the wall. There was a spider. I removed the spider and realized I must find something she will really love. As this is pretty bad when her entertainment is finding a spider. While I was on Amazon for something else, I went to the pet department and saw this ball. Read the reviews and decided to purchase it. Upon receiving it, plugged it in, turned it on, and my cat turned into a football player. The box says 3 minutes of play and then I assumed you had to plug it in. So after running all over the house with the cat, and me chasing this little ball, it was 30 minutes stopped. I picked it up to plug it in again, but it had its own will and lit up and jumped out of my hands, and started on its quest to search the entire house. It hit a wall, turns around, and continues into a different lane. It visited the kitchen, my office, a bathroom, the living room and dining room, and a bedroom. Finally, it wore out - it also wore out my cat and me. I didn't pick it up because I didn't want it to start again. I left it and the cat alone and went to work in my office. About ten minutes later my cat came into the room meowing loudly and I followed her and she led me to the 'it' that had obviously started up again but finally stopped for the night. I'm sure my cat pawed 'it' to restart it. Phew. It's plugged in now. I have to tell my cat that it is going nighty-night. She only understands a few words, so now she knows who and what 'it' is. First off, "motion activated" is not what you think. I thought this would react when the toy senses motion like an infrared sensor. That is not the case. The toy itself has to be moved or agitated to trigger the toy's movement. If you have loose pile carpet like the cheap stuff in most apartments, this toy will just sit in one place and spin itself because the surface is too smooth to get any traction. It works fairly will on bare floors and low/tighter pile carpet. I wish there was a way to turn off the flashing lights or forgo them altogether. There's really no point to them and nothing in nature reacts that way, so they don't hold the cat's attention. Our cat likes to bite the furry attachment and walk around with it. He has a high prey drive and is not interested in the ball without the attachment. Operation is a bit of a hassle. While the arm is spinning, it's a struggle to hold the toy and hit the on/off button. You have to wait THREE MINUTES until it goes dormant to gently pick it up and hit the button again to turn it off. It will wander under furniture on it's own so be prepared to fish it out. Instructions for operation are also unclear. 1. Make sure it's charged (USB to micro USB cable included). 2. Press the button until the lights flash. 3. Wait for lights to stop flashing. 4. Drop the toy or give it a whack and the arm on the ball should start spinning. A couple improvements: 1. Textured, silicone body/sheath to grip more surfaces. 2. Shorter duration of active motion. Three minutes of continuous, uninterrupted motion does not maintain the cat's instinct to hunt. 3. Random intervals of motion. To resemble a more natural, stop-and-go movement of a prey animal. 4.
