We had a top of the line Miele canister unit - with all the bells and whistles - for several years. It did a nice job cleaning, but it was so heavy and inconvenient to keep finding outlets that we just left it in the living room - not the best look. Someone gave us a so-so stick vac. We liked it but it had its shortcomings. We took a plunge on this top rated stick vac and can’t say enough nice things about it. It’s super maneuverable, and seems to sense whether it’s on bare floors or carpet. It also seems to do a better job getting pet hair and crumbs that the big unit left behind. It’s actually fun to walk around the house touching up stuff that gets tracked in. The only downside is that you really have to read the manual to get the most from it. The manual is not intuitive and you have to refer to drawings on the last foldout page. We are two adults plus a dog in a small 3 bedroom 3 level townhouse. We think this will work fine as our only vacuum cleaner. ... show more

Inaccurate advertising. Multi-floor use is advertised but does not include rugs and carpet. Also there is a $100 restocking fee… Meile normally has such nice products. We bought for my 80 year old mother in law… very very disappointed. Why is there a rotating brush if it’s not for carpet?

    • Long Battery Life, Lots of Suction

With 4 kids, 2 dogs, and a bird that flings food and feathers everywhere, there is a lot of vacuuming happening. I have some vacuum experience. My basement vacuum is my old Kirby - but it's way too heavy to get up and down the stairs for as often as I need it. Still works great, but changing out the bag is a pain. I also have a 19 year old Dyson Animal - still works. Has needed some work - replacing filters, belts, and mostly CLEANING it...the smell of pets seems to absorb into it, and a kid moving out needs one, so it's leaving the house to go to a no-pet zone. Both of my current vacuums are corded and I wanted a fast, easier way of daily cleaning the floors. Thing I love - worked right out of the box, came with enough of a charge for me to try it. I didn't love - no real manual per se. A 'Quick Start' guide that really told me nothing. Thing I love - GREAT job cleaning the carpet. I could tell it was doing what I needed it to do, and it was easy enough to use. Not sure I understand why the turbo button is there - who ISN'T going to use it? Not sure I could tell you what it's for or if it uses extra battery - cuz again. No book or reference to tell me. I'm GenX. I have zero interest in going to watch a video about it or having to look up the book every time I need information. I have a drawer full of manuals that I actually look at if I have a question. What I don't love, is that it requires a lot more 'pushing' for lack of a better term. My shoulder wasn't sure what that was about, and I ended up using a second hand to steady it towards the end of doing the entire floor. It's not heavy out of the box, but it's not as balanced as I would have thought, so when I'm using, my upper arm can tell - the weight is all up top and it's not light. What I already see if that the battery life outlasts the canister capacity. Had to empty it halfway through the room. (Again, lots of hair, dust, etc). It's not a large canister, and again - no reference...took me a minute to figure out I had to take the bottom tube off to empty it neatly. Couldn't leave it assembled to empty so in the middle of vacuuming, I had to stop, take the top off, go empty the canister, reassemble, and then finish vacuuming. That's probably the biggest concern - so it depends on your usage plans. I'm used to the Dyson with its large capacity - emptied every use, but definitely not in the middle. All together - it's on the wall, and will be my vacuum of choice for sure. Time will tell if it lasts the 25 years my $1299 Kirby from 1999 has or the 19 years my $600 Dyson has. I don't mind minor maintenance for an expensive appliance, but will update if it becomes obvious it can't compete. ... show more

    • Great suction, easy charge, easy clean

This is a fantastic vacuum. I've had another pretty expensive name brand vacuum before and this was probably better in a lot of ways. It's a very lightweight vacuum. I've found it easy to lift, carry up and down stairs, and my son can easily use it as well (he's six). It's very straightforward, only a couple buttons and the vacuum can be taken apart super easily for deep cleaning. To empty the dirt you just click the button and it instantly dumps it open and out! I did accidentally drop it once, and it's still working great, so I'd say it's decently durable! It has amazing suction. We moved into an older home and it has probably sucked dust and dirt from years ago! It pulls from very deep in the carpet. It can easily pick up things equal to dry beans or rice... I also have a daughter who puts tiny rocks in her pockets, and it sucks those up as well. It changes it's suction depending on the surface and also has a turbo button so you can add more suction if needed. It charges quickly and stay charged for a good while. It has three lights to indicate how much charge is left and I can do at least 3 small bedrooms with one light. This is not the vacuums fault, so I didn't take stars for this, but it's good to know. We have a washable rug and it cannot vacuum on it. It sucks it right up and so it is just impossible. It also sucks up my kitchen rugs so that's annoying. But our large normal rug can be vacuumed. I wouldn't think it could do a shag one either though. ... show more

I wanted to love this. I saw great review that boasted about battery life and cleaning power but I did not have the same experience. I used this tool on and off for a couple hours while I sucked up cobwebs around the wood beams of my vaulted ceilings and vacuumed around my bookshelves by the fireplace. I noticed how quickly the battery was running down and how the suction didn’t feel that strong. It missed cobwebs! Then I gave it a go on the carpet, it didn’t seem to have that much suction and before I knew it, it was time to charge it. It’s fairly lightweight which is a plus and looks nice but it just doesn’t seem to compare to another off brand cordless vac I have. I wouldn’t buy this again. ... show more
