Full transparency, I've owned a Dyson V-10 Cylone -- comments further down. I bought my first Miele in 2001 when I moved into my new home. My mother owned Eureka canisters, so that's how I was familiar with this model. Twenty-one years later, and the Miele that I bought for the exorbitant amount of $850 in 2001, is still working. Only time I've had the vacuum in the repair shop was for the cord windup. Otherwise, motor, suction, tools, are as good as new. Works perfectly. I bought a Dyson V-10 in 2018 because I thought the stick vacuum would be easier to take up and down the stairs, and had read about its vaunted suction. But, with the Dyson, you need special screwdrivers to take it apart for cleaning and maintenance. The canister size, when full, would back up into the filter and stop the suction. Which meant you were constantly cleaning the machine, and I found myself using the Miele to clean the Dyson. When the Dyson battery died, ordered a new one. Only to discover that the screwhead threads in the Dyson were completely obliterated, and I couldn't remove the battery. Decision time, vacuum repair or a 2nd Miele. No contest. The Miele cannot be beat IMHO for suction. This 2022 version is different from my 2001 in these ways: more quiet, slightly longer connecting hose, the vacuum tubes are slightly heavier and the handle more ergonomic. The tools have remained the same and are great for cleaning the drier vent and screen and under the fridge. Easy to clean under furniture and appliances. The vacuum bags are deceiving because they hold a lot more dirt and dust than you think, far more than the Dyson ever did. And w/2 German Shepherds -- it's all about hair, non-stop. Not to mention 2 Boston Terriers who make their own unique messes. Whether you have tile floors, carpeting, or wood, this is a great vacuum. The canister is not that heavy and easy to pull around.     • Where has this vacuum been my whole life?

I’ve used this for four months now. This thing is freaking amazing. My hard floors are cleaner than they have ever been! I always have very dirty floors from having a dog, cat, dirt tracked in from my barn, and dirt from living on a dry desert dirt road. This vacuum picks up everything. It feels like I mopped the floor after I vacuum: no grit or fine dirt dust left on the floor. When I mop after vacuuming, the water/soap bucket has no dirt in it like it had contained for years. I have always bought Hoover uprights. They don’t compare at all to the suction and cleaning power that this vacuum has. I find the attachments a little hard to get on and off the pole/hose, but I’m getting much better at it. I like the onboard storage for tools, very handy and the tools don’t fall off like the old Hoover upright. The small tools are standard, can’t vacuum up my cat’s super fine and long hair off furniture or cat tower. No tools ever have, this wasn’t a big surprise to me. The tools work well for shelve dusting, baseboards, leather couch crevices and such. I found the printed instruction manual too general, not specific to this model. I had go online to figure out how to reset brush rollers after sucking up a carpet. I made notations in useless manual for easier future reference. In reading other peoples’ low reviews, they stated that there was an issue with the floor brush roller shorting out. I haven’t found this to be true, as when you have the pole up right it shuts off the brush motors so that it can sit there and rest “off” while you’re moving furniture or whatever. None of that is a dealbreaker, as this vacuum cleans my floors and carpeting better than ever been cleaned before. And I don’t want to forget to add that this vacuum is SO QUIET that my 10-year-old cat (who has been terrified of vacuums his whole life) doesn’t even leave the room now when I’m vacuuming. Easy to maneuver brush roller floor attachment, it’s a back and shoulder saver for this senior gal. I have tipped canister over on carpeting, but I’ve never had a canister that follows behind me. It takes getting used to moving it out of the way instead of stumbling over it. LoL. I hope their quality stands the test of time, I would replace again with same quality vacuum in future.
