  • Great Performance, Modern Looks, Super Price
First off, I replaced a very good performing Cobra 29LX with this unit, because that radio was huge, and with all the chrome it was just too much in a 2011 Silverado. I wanted something modern, but with good performance. This sure was the ticket. I tried the small Cobra that competes with this model, but it does not compare to this radio in terms of performance. The noise blocking feature is great for big metro areas like mine (mandantory actually). The squelch and RF gain take a bit of getting used to, but once you find the right balance, you can extract excellent reception. I use this radio with a cobra power mic, and the people I talk to often comment on the excellent sound quality, and I never get bad reports. The case is very small, and business-like. The display is excellent, and very modern. Having the weather function is a nice thing, though the radio is so sensitive, it will pick up the second closest station instead of the first, and IT not YOU selects which weather station to listen to. This is the lone defect of the radio. If you are within range of two weather stations and weather station reception is a big issue for you, don't get this radio, it will irritate you. Since I got this to chat with truckers and base station users while driving on the freeway, I really don't care about the weather issue, but some might. ***Remember you MUST tune your antenna SWR with ANY CB, period. If you don't your performance will likely suffer at the least, and at the worst you can smoke the radio. I use a tuneable tip firestick 2 antenna (4 foot), and some good RG8X coax, and have an SWR across the band of around 1.2, which is very good. Combine this radio with a well tuned antenna, and a power mic, and you will have a quality setup for not much more than $100. That's a great value. You can't go wrong with this unit. ... show more

  • Solid radio for the price.
Bought this radio for my work vehicle. I wanted a small footprint with weather band. This radio fit the bill. I am just using a cheap wal-mart antenna for now. Tuned to just under 1.5 SWR on all channels. Am able to receive and transmit with no issues. Range is limited mostly by the cheap antenna. My only complaint with the radio is that I wish it could scan through the channels like the radio in my personal vehicle. The scanning feature on weather band is not ideal, but it stops when it finds a signal and if you want to go to another channel you just key the mic and it goes to the next channel it gets a signal on. In other words, I would prefer to be able to manually select a weather channel but the scan works well enough for me. ... show more

  • Great Little CB Radio and It's Portable
Style: Handlheld
I remember in the 70's CB radios were THE way to go. Everyone had one. It actually saved mine and my family's life on a cross-country move to New York from California. Stuck in Omaha, NE in a blizzard, so cold you couldn't walk 50 feet without freezing to death. no phone, and couldn't get my vehicle started (the motor oil was as thick as molasses) and need a tow to push start it. The local CB'ers contacted a tow truck for me. Well nowadays with cell phones CB's are basically just an amusing blast from the past but you can still sometimes get lucky and get a stratospherically skipped signal and hear/talk to someone thousands of miles away. This portable CB is very basic but quality and works like a charm and the price amazes me (got it for 40 bucks, FORTY BUCKS!). Nowadays you can use it as a very high quality walkie talkie so it is still relevant. Better to buy this than some half watt radio and you get 4 whole watts meaning you can go miles. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this
Style: Handlheld
Bought 30 dollars worth of rechargeable batteries. Unit does not recharge them. Then bought the ac charger instead of using the car adapter. $15. It doesn’t charge the batteries either. Yes…. I know there is a switch inside to specify the type of batteries. It doesn’t work. It is a lemon. Don’t buy it. I had to give it 1 star…. Would have preferred zero stars. ... show more

  • Easy To Use
Works as it should. Easy to use and picks up the weather channels loud and clear. Radio has strong clear modulation on transmit and receives distant stations. I get good reports on how clear the modulation is. Well pleased enough, I purchased two more for my other trucks.

  • Mediocre. It has the basics. No bells or whistles
What you see is what you get. Very minimalistic. The nice thing is it doesn’t take much space. I’m having a hard time getting a good signal in but overall I’m happy with the radio. Especially for the price. Definitely better out there though.
