Read reviews and did some research and decided to give the Midea 3.5 cu ft freezer. I had an up right freezer full size but needed the extra room. I’ve had it know 2 months and all is great! Received the box and it was a little bang up! I was very concerned that it would be dented. But with luck, it was free of any dents or damage. Yay! For 3.5 cu ft, it’s very roomy. I took it out of the box, took the cord out of the compartment it was in and plugged it in. Turned it to the setting I wanted, and waited to see how it would do. Within 30 minutes or so it was nice and cool inside. It’s very quiet, I place my hand on the top to feel it’s cool to be sure it’s still running. It’s the perfect size I was looking for. It comes with a basket and has a built in shelf on the right side, which I love. I went with this freezer also because I have a Midea dishwasher, which I absolutely love! Great buy! Quiet and efficient, good temp control. Perhaps my favorite aspect is the door flange that fits into base like a tongue and groove joint. It also has an automatic light that turns on when you open the door. Now we just need to see how it stands the test of time.

This one arrived in 2016 with some dent. I didn't bother returning because of the bulkiness and low price. It's still working after 8 years of service. It's cheap to operate. Likely because of less air exchange makes less work to the compressor. Cold air behaves like liquid, so top door makes more sense than side doors. It's quiet. It needs manual defrost or scraping every once in a while. There's a drainage hole at the bottom. When there are less stuff in the freezer, I move them to my other freezer and turn it off to defrost. Drain it. Clean it. Turn it back on and back to the business. Some exterior parts start yellowing 3-4 years after purchase. It's cosmetic and I don't really mind. We wanted a deep freezer to save money by buying meat and other food items that could be stored frozen in bulk. Our indoor refrigerator has a very small freezer, and we couldn't store enough frozen goods for our family of seven forcing us to make several trips to the store per week. This freezer is the perfect size for us (we got the 7.0 cubic foot model). It is so quiet I can barely hear it running even when I am standing right next to it, and the lid stays open by itself. We live in Louisiana and keep the freezer in our un-airconditioned garage. It doesn't take up much space and has had no problems keeping the same temp on the inside even when the temp outside is in the high 90's. The energy cost per year is only around 35.00. Now we don't have to worry if we have enough freezer space when we go shopping. We can take advantage of bulk meat specials and stock up on frozen fruits and vegetables. We bought this as an affordable way for just a bit more freezer space. It was easy to get out of the box and setup (lightweight and box was built to come apart) - minus the plus for it getting trapped inside, for which we had to open a side vent to get it unstuck.
