  • Easy to read
This map was easy to read but does not show each state on separate pages. Instead shows sections of 2 or 3states together so you can follow easier from one state to another. I liked it but my husband did not.

  • Easy To Use
Easy to flow from one map to another

  • Disappointing
This was the cheapest road atlas and the lack of detail shows. The maps are smaller than in another atlas, and in my area (eastern Pennsylvania) don't show many of what we consider main roads. The New Jersey map is only half a page and lacks one of the main roads from Pennsylvania. Not impressed.

  • A different way of mapping the country
This is my favorite large-format, saddle-stitched road atlas, since it doesn't map the country by individual states, which results in the scale for some state maps being too generous and others being too crowded. Instead, this atlas treats the country as a whole and splits it into about 60 maps, all at a reasonable scale of 1 inch=23.2 miles, starting in the Northwest and ending in south Florida. However, recognizing that the northeast corridor from Washington to Boston is more densely populated, there are additional maps of this region at 1 inch=12.8 miles, which also applies to Hawaii. Canada is covered with several different scales, with the most densely populated part at 1 inch=26.1 miles (1 cm=16.5 km), which also applies to Puerto Rico. Alaska/Northwest Canada and Mexico are mapped to smaller scales, with each taking two pages. The cartography is that first created by MapQuest and now handled by Globe Turner. It is quite clear, though distinguishing between divided and undivided highways is a bit difficult. (This cartography is, in my opinion, far better than that used in Michelin's European atlases!) If I have one criticism, it is a lack of enlarged city inset maps, and there are only about 50, fewer than most atlases (including its spiral-bound partner). These are inserted, alphabetically, within the index of towns and cities which follows the maps, and their locations are referenced on the primary maps. The atlas has both a mileage map (including estimated drive times) and mileage chart, along with 4 pages of recommended scenic drives. I rate this the second-best road atlas of the U.S. overall, behind only the Michelin spiral-bound atlas with 304 smaller pages. I buy them both, using this one for overall trip planning but taking the other one with me in the car, so check it out as well. ... show more
