With forward on both left and right does not go straight. Have to wiggle the boat to get it a to travel any distance. Range is barely 10 meters approx 30 feet. Fine for pool horrible for lake like we use it from a beach.

One propeller works better than the other one which causes the boat to spin in a circle. I purchased 3 boats for my grandkids and all 3 operated the same exact way. Donโ€™t waste your time or money on these boats.

    • Battery compartment is on the bottom of the boat

To use this boat, you simply place it in the water. Once the built-in sensors detect water, they activate the power and the boat lights up. It uses a pair of propellers to push it through the water and give it the ability to have tighter turns than some boats. This boat even has a "blow hole" of sorts where, when a button on the remote is pushed, a light turns on at the top of the boat and a it spray out a light mist or water vapor. I should note that the first time we tried this feature, the light came on without the mist. However, after a few minutes in the pool and several repeated attempts, it started working as expected. When finished with the boat, you simply take it out of the water and let it dry off. Once it's dry and no water is detected, it shuts itself off. So far, I only have two issues with this boat. First and foremost is the location of the battery. For some reason I cannot fathom, they placed the battery compartment on the bottom of the boat. Wouldn't it have made more sense to place the compartment up top where water isn't constantly attempting to enter? Fortunately, we have not had any trouble so far. There is a rubber/silicone seal around the compartment cover (which is attached by screws) so it does seem to be water tight. However, you do need to be careful when installing the lithium battery to make sure that the battery cord doesn't get caught in the seal and cause it to leak. The other issue is a lack of secondary battery (or the ability to purchase a second battery). It's no fun to have a toy like this run out of power and then realize you have to wait for it to fully charge before you can use it again. Overall, this is a fun toy and my kids have enjoyed using it since we pulled it from the box. It blows my mind that some engineer thought putting the battery compartment on the water side of the boat was the way to go. However, so far, it seems to work well. If we do find the compartment springs a leak, I'll be sure to update this review. If the seller or manufacturer is reading this, I would strongly encourage you to consider either shipping the product with two batteries or at least making them available so we can purchase extras. ... show more

My husband felt that one propeller spun faster than the other, making the boat spin a bit more. It took my daughter playing with it to figure out the steering better! She also saw that the top emits a stream of "steam", it's not really steam, but a bit of water vapor. It's a fun toy while in the pool, easy to charge and lasts a bit longer than I expected. My husband was disappointed that it would not go "under" the water, but I like that better since it would be easy to lose your boat when batteries die. I think it's fine that it floats! ... show more

Looking for pool toys for my nephews to use this summer, I came across these subs and knew they'd be a hit, at least as much as possible given their ages ranging from 3 to 10! Actually using it, the minimum age is fine with supervision, but I wouldn't trust a toddler to regularly charge a liPo safely. The controls are simple and smoke effect similar to that of ultrasonic diffusers, so it's good fun for a few minutes to hours depending on the age. I did have an issue with one of the motors being far less powerful, and there are also other replacement propellors in case they get damaged. I do think the price could be dropped $10-$15 for the quality, and with no diving capabilities the fun is a bit limited; as it stand the current $30 price comes with only a light recommendation, as well as the advice to test it within the first 30 days to make sure everything works! ... show more

This remote control boat for kids is so much fun! I think the big kids and adults had just as much fun with the boat! It takes a little bit to set up as both the remote and the boat have a battery compartment that needs to be removed, by removing screws, to hook up the rechargeable battery for the boat and the remote needs two AA batteries. I think I do not look forward to removing the Battery compartment on the boat each time you need to recharge the boat battery. After removing the boat from the water, the lights do stay on, on the boat, until all sensors have dried out, then they turn off. This is a great summer activity for the kids, especially if you just have one child to entertain, keeps them busy! ... show more
