Apparently the triggers regularly break on the Dysons. The original part is plastic. But this is metal and hopefully it will not break. It is hard to install, but it fixes the broken vacuum. Fantastic fix to broken trigger. I was bummed that this expensive yet great vacuum stopped working with the trigger. Interesting because I felt something going wrong a week or two earlier. Definitely utube it for some great step boy step replacement procedure. richardsvacuumcenter one took me step by step without a problem. I did buy the Amazon set of TR8 drivers a MUSOSU 6 in 1 Screwdriver Repair Tool Kits for Dyson to be ready for the repair. And yes....the plastic trigger had cracked and broken. Works great after installation. As other reviews mention the installation video is very helpful. I had to buy the T8 screwdriver separately which delayed things but so glad I didn’t have to replace the whole vacuum!

    • What a pain in the butt

Use this as a heads up. The new trigger works great after I used a 11/64” drill bit to ream the hole out of the extra paint that was used to cover the trigger. The instructions was easy enough to fallow but once everything was put back together “the first time” I found out the trigger was sticking and wouldn’t shut off due to the trigger sticking keeping the on switch depressed. Having to pull everything apart was a pain. Took a lot less time to do but the power wires on the 90 degree bracket was the most difficult part of the install. ... show more

Fixed my 2 year old Dyson V10 with a broken trigger with this. Spent a few extra dollars for a metal replacement trigger but by my estimation it is worth the extra cost. Because it is metal it is a bit trickier to get over the retaining dimples but with a slow careful hand it can be done. Thank goodness someone sells replacement triggers because Dyson sure doesn't. ... show more

A lot of work, but tremendous instructional video. Note, that you will need a #1 version long Philipps screw driver, and a T8 Star bit screw driver. You will save a lot of money, if you're willing to put in a couple hours to swap out your likely-cracked plastic trigger, this metal trigger will work well! ... show more

    • Metal to the rescue - ridiculous such expensive equipment hinges on a flimsy plastic piece

Dyson is good design, but bad engineering! It is ridiculous that such an expensive piece of equipment hinges on a flimsy piece of plastic that easy breaks under stress. Our vacuum stopped working. We called the service center but was told it will cost a lot of money just to examine. But the trigger felt soft and unable to bounce back, so we suspected it wasn't the battery/electronics/motor, but rather, a mechanical piece. This metal piece is the perfect fix. The disassemble/reassemble isn't easy, but that's because of poor Dyson engineering. In the end, it was fixed, and I'm happy that the expensive vacuum is given new life because of this piece. ... show more
