I wish I'd had this as a teenager when I lived in a house where the first part of the house was first built in the 1700s and was the first hotel/inn in a Westchester County NY town. I bet I'd have discovered a lot. But those days are long gone, and I doubt as a kid I'd have been able to afford a metal detector with my babysitting money anyway. Where I live now, though, is an area in another state where there was a lot of revolutionary war activity and a lot of settlement activity since then so this will be an adventure. I wish I lived in England, though, because youtube videos from England and Scotland and their finds are the best and that's what led me to look further into this (as well as the series "Detectorists" which I'd give 5 stars if reviewing it). But, still, this is working just great, and I'm enjoying it already. It's pinpoint feature is very nice, I'm not sure I'm even going to need the separate pin-pointer that I bought. Also, it was very easy to assemble and came with a little pick/shovel, a set of earphones, and a bag to carry the detector. It's a very good deal. The only feature it doesn't have is a depth finder, but I don't expect it to work like a $1,000 detector and it's doing great - it's a VERY good deal for the money spent on it, especially if it lasts awhile. EASY TO SET UP AND USE MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENT SOUNDS FOR DIFFERENT METTELS AND IS QUITE SENSITIVE BUT WHEN YOU FIND SOME THING WITH MASS LIKE A SOLID IRON ROD IT REALY GOES OFF AT FIRST I WAS CHECKING EVERY LITTLE BEEP THEN I DECIDED TO TEST IT ON SOME DIFFERENT OBJECTS TO SEE WHAT ITS RESPOSE WOULD BE THIS HELPED A LOT ... show more

My first mission was to find my lot line stakes and water supply valve. Both are buried under at least 6" of dirt. This quickly located all of them at the middle of its sensitive range. The metal classifier gave readings consistent with iron, as expected, so it worked well. The coil enclosure can separate easily but it snaps right back into place. I wish it had a volume control. I am a beginner in metal detecting and this is my first one, so I opted for this model since it had good reviews. However, a lot of the reviews were by Vine reviewers, so I'm not entirely sure if they're reliable. The price seems a bit steep considering the glitches. In terms of performance, I had a decent experience with it. I tried it out in my backyard and found some bottle caps and tin. The headphones are low quality and the adjustable headset wouldn't stay in place on one side, but they functioned well enough. The Pin Point button on the detector tended to glitch and have issues when I tried to use it. On the bright side, the weight of the detector is surprisingly light, which is a plus. I also appreciated the inclusion of a survival tool/shovel, which worked great. The carrying case feels a bit flimsy, but it's holding up well and easily fits everything inside (although you do have to retract the metal detector completely to make it fit). Overall, I would recommend this model for other beginners like me. While it does have some glitches and the price is high, it still functions pretty well and comes with some useful accessories. ... show more

Was skeptical about the acquisition after reading reviews but the price was in my desired range so took a chance. Upon receipt assembled the unit and immediately looked for a ring that I had lost days earlier. Within 15 minutes I found the ring . If it continues to work that well will be very happy.
