This is a well structured bird feeder. The feeder is attractive, heavy duty and has a great perching area for birds. I gave it three stars as the telescoping effect is not user friendly and its difficult to fill and hang. The lid also relies on the hanging cord to stay on top so moves around a lot. Birds love it! I have a mixture of sunflower, safflower, fruit and other nuts in this feeder. The smaller seeds spill out unless mixed in with larger seed. The small birds love it. The doves were able to feed from this one and I don't want them at the feeders, so I added a squirrel dome. Although our one resident squirrel has left the feeders alone (I put out pans of sunflower seeds for the doves and squirrel), I added the dome to keep the doves from feeding from this feeder. They're big and chase away the finches and smaller birds. One dove managed to figure out how to get under the dome but he didn't stay long and hasn't tried again. They stay with the pans of sunflower seeds set out. It's a bit awkward filling it as the tube collapses within itself, and the smaller feed does spill out the top half more easily than the bottom half.     • Seeds Clog at Bottom - not good!!!

This seemed like a great feeder, but after a couple of weeks use, I noticed the bottom tray stays clogged with seed. Cardinals or other birds will visit, look around, and then take off as no seed is releasing from the bottom. The openings are just too small and unless you go and clean it out twice a day, it will stay clogged. Bummer as I wanted this feeder to work as it's attractive, easy to fill and not the cheapest feeder around. Oh well, buyer beware! ... show more
