  • Cheap and works better than the MR33 I had before this one
Size: No Subscription Color: GR10 - Indoor
I am always into Cisco and their Meraki products due to the ease of use. I have purchased two of these and the outdoor one. I also own the MR33 and the Switch I can manage thru their site. It has more features than this and more control. For my applications such as a restaurant with Guest wifi and a car dealer ship. Those features would go to waste. I got there and plugged them in. Set two the the SSID's to bridge mode. Worked like a champ. The only issue I have is that the Web version Sucks. The App works well and updated the new IP config I had set fast. There is also times I have to Physically power off the device to reboot. This sucks as it is setup high and there is no POE at this location. Yes I know that sometimes the MR33 has the same issue and it also had the power so no points off for that due to this particular locations having the power supply at the device. The web version needs to be optimized. I kept getting errors about fetching data when I changed from DHCP to Static. The App allowed it and when I rebooted the device physically, everything worked right. These compared to the Ubiquiti Devices and the Netgear ones, the app seems to have ease of access such as my landing page. I attempted to setup a Netgear and that one failed to separate the networks from guest and corporate users. The Meraki here did not have an issue separating them and when in Bridge mode, it found all the devices. The Ubiquiti has the UniFi yet is was only available with POE. Was priced 12 dollars more then I would have to buy a POE Injector. Yet do not get me wrong the Ubiquiti is WIFI 6, way better. The only reason the Meraki worked where I was, was due to the fact that I had installed a Linksys in the Back the WRT3200ACM and it works well. Does the restaurant staff need 800 Mbps for a 500 Mbps network no. So this works for now. In the Future Meraki needs to release a WiFi 6 version of this. In case my customer upgrades their Speed. Yet at this it works well and is reliable. Both work amazing mainly for the staff and corporate users. The Guest Wifi is on the Meraki and the Staff and Corporate SSID plus the Corporate and Staff SSID being the same on the Linksys. I opted for the staff to use the 2.4 Ghz network and named it staff on the linksys and the the Corporate SSID to be 5Ghz. Easy to install, comes with power supply. Does not need the Yearly or every third year Meraki subscription. Even 5 years subscriptions. Seems to have a better range than the MR33. I was able to modify the Landing page, they need to give us more options such as the MR33. I was able to place the Accepting agreements on the top. This one makes you scroll yet at less than 200. I can submit a Wish to Meraki. They are also making constant improvements to the system. I will keep supporting it and hopefully by next month I will have purchase my third of the indoor AP. The outdoor one is subject to Texas heat and I have yet to see it fail. ... show more

  • Great Access Point - Easy To Setup, Easy To Use - Right Out Of The Box
Size: No Subscription Color: GR10 - Indoor
Not my first rodeo setting up wireless access points for my home. But I have to say, this has been by far the smoothest and easiest. Way better than anything from NetGear, TP-Link, et al.... most of which I have used in the past. This one set a new bar for "ease of use and configuration". It works exactly like Meraki-Go claims.... create a free cloud account, install the app, connect the access point to your local ethernet and to power, and off it goes. While it connects via internet to Meraki-Gos cloud portal, and then does any firmware updates, you are free to configure one or more wireless channels for your use. I definitely recommend installing the App on a tablet.. for the bigger screen, which is what I did. Once the App said the unit was ready to go.. sure enough.. it was ready to go. Too early to report on all the data tracking and analytics within the App.. but if that is your thing and you like to monitor what each device on your network is using data wise... you have it. Notes: things to be aware of and patient about. 1) when you create your free cloud account, it does take a few minutes before the account is active and you can use it to log in to the App. 2) it did take the access point a few minutes after connecting with the cloud portal before it went online and you could begin using. My guess is it was doing some firmware updates, and self-testing, before popping a green status light.. meaning it thinks it is good to go. 3) Meraki-Go has a nice set of troubleshooting guides and other assistance documents online for owners, which is quite robust and nice compared to competitors. But honestly, for most simple home and small business networks.. this unit should work right out of the box... unless you have some funky firewall settings that have things locked down so tight the unit cannot reach out to the cloud server due to blocked ports (and there is a troubleshooting guide for this if in fact you are overly zealous with your routers firewall). So for the notes above... the keyword here for the new user is ... "patience".. let it do it's thing and wait while it does. I guess this is the downside of such a smooth running configuration and taking the access point live.. it is doing things.. smart things.. in the background, but it does not see the need to keep the owner fully informed of all it's detailed behind the scenes steps. Frankly, most users would not know what to do with the information if it was provided. Someone posted in 2019 that this device requires a license. Well... that is simply NOT correct for the Meraki-Go family of access points, but it may be required for other Meraki products that lack the "Go" suffix on them. Keep in mind Meraki makes a range of products and some are NOT Meraki-Go enabled.. which means you need to use Meraki's licensed access to their administration portal. In this era when so many companies are pushing their WiFi6 high speed fancy meshed router and access point setups.. for hundreds of dollars.. it is refreshing to purchase a reasonably priced access point that will support up to four wireless networks concurrently, and supports automatic dual-band pairing and super easy administration through the App for phone or tablet. ... show more

  • Complete solution - security gateway and 2 AP for a meshed network.
Size: No Subscription Color: GR10 - Indoor
The 2 AP’s I bought were used with a security gateway all from Meraki. Setup as a meshed network. Tested the mesh and it worked great. Throuput thru the APs was 200+. this upgraded Meraki go network is superior to my prior mixed matched system and my new through put is the highest its ever been. Everything that folks review that is great about this product is true. To make it easy to setup, make sure your network is not using 192.x.x.x IP, use 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x instead. I have 2 wifi routers and the one that was on 192.x.x.x self reconfigured to 10.x.x.x. The unit itself with out the subscription is very useful . decided to replace my RTR/AP's with Meraki go APs for the mesh capability and unified control console. the first AP was an easy install. with the second AP, wasnt sure if there is a lag time by design so I was not sure it was up and integrated until 30 minutes had passed...from that point...both APs were up, the mesh was established, the mesh test pass, and endpoints were attaching to APs. ... show more
