  • My son loves this latch board
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
We got this for my son for Christmas (17 months old) and he loves it. He played with it constantly for weeks. After a couple months I rotated it out. When I brought it back again he spent quite a long time playing with it. It’s not quite as interesting to him this time, but he still goes back to it (24 months.) I won’t leave it out as long this time. I’m sure it will be a hit again when I get it back out. I really have no complaints. It’s a bit large but I like all the latch/lock options. It doesn’t fit in the M&D puzzle holder. The hinges are a little crooked on some of the doors but not enough to affect the function. ... show more

  • Great Gift - grandson loved it
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
I really wonder whether the hinges would hold up under a 2 year old boy - but this toy is nicely made. Very sturdy and the hinges fold all the way back so it lays flat. I think that is why the kids don't break it off. My grandson (just turned two) loves hiding the magnets under the wrong doors and then laughs when we acted surprised at what is inside. He then moves the items around to the right doors. My only complaint is that it doesn't fit well into the puzzle rack that Melissa & Doug sells on their site. ... show more

  • Great, but…
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
My 1 year old really loves this toy. It has 2 drawbacks that impact durability… 1.) The pieces are made of wood but topped with paper. The paper images are tearing off and it looks really beat up with normal use after about a month. 2.) The magnets are very strong. It’s sometimes difficult for me to get the pieces out, let alone my baby. Prying the pieces out contributes to the torn paper around the edges of every piece. ... show more

  • Beware of teething toddlers
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
This is really cute and interactive, my toddler loves it. However, the stickers are easily chewed off which is kind of a bummer.

  • My son loves it but wish the wood doesn’t have so much splinters
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
We bought this for our 13 month olds for our first trip on the plane. This keeps him occupied for 15 minutes (that’s quite long honestly). He loves opening and closes each square and takes out the figures. Only thing that I give it 3 stars is because the wood has a lot of splinters. I had to use a wipes to sand down everything. ... show more

  • My son’s favorite toy!
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
My toddler son has speech delay and this is one of the toys his therapist uses during sessions. He always gets so excited just to play with this toy, so we got him one for home. He loves taking the magnets out and matching them back in. It also come in very handy when it comes to practicing receptive language and following simple instructions. Toy is very good quality and is study. It’s not water resistant so would definitely be careful about having liquids nearby. ... show more

  • Excellent starter puzzle for young toddlers
Style: Retail Version Pattern Name: Board
I use this door puzzle often in my private practice to work on fine motor & cognitive/language skills - and as a first puzzle experience. Young toddlers seem endlessly entertained by opening the doors to find a magnet underneath related to the picture on each door. Although little fingertips can remove the magnets, I often start by just having them practice opening each door so we avoid having the magnetic pieces get lost.- It's a version of the favorite "Peek-a-Boo" game that works on memory & language, i.e. "Where's the dog? Oh here's the dog! Woof, Woof". Once they can take the pieces out, it's a bit more of a memory challenge to put each back in it's correct space so it "grows" along with the child's abilities. The reason it's a great first puzzle is that the pieces can be replaced without having to fit each in exactly - especially for kids that are challenged by getting the orientation perfect. No choking hazard either! ... show more
