  • Awesome sharp lens, great build for an amazing price
Size: 50mm F1.2-L
I have been testing this Meke lens with my Panasonic S1 and I really love it. To start out I personally prefer autofocus lenses because of the versatility and speed but with mirrorless focus peaking this makes manual focus a breezed compared to the manual film camera from the past and DSLR. I feel that mirrorless with auto focus peaking is the perfect camera to use with manual focus lenses because you can see clearly the focus plan with minimal guess. On to the lens, let’s first talk about the build quality, it has an all aluminum body that is sturdy and well build especially consider the price point. The focus and aperture rings are smooth and easy glide with minimal tension or resistance but they are not loose either. The feel is amazing and to simply put, I never thought that I would like a manual lens this much. Each of the rings have a quarter turn radius, meaning that you are not spinning the rings forever to get focus to change the aperture. Being that it is a manual lens when you first mount it on the camera and turn it on it will ask what focal length lens is mounted so that the IBIS and other systems can compensate accordingly. The focal length dialog would should up with every subsequent power on but can simply be dismiss with a half press of the shutter button. The aperture would show on the camera as 0.0 because you have to adjust it on the lens and there are no CPU contact points which is why you have to enter the focal length in manually. But the great thing about the setup is that the camera still meter the light through the less and does it accurately, which makes photographing a breeze. To makes things easier for me, I set the camera to aperture priority since the camera sees 0.0 but I can adjust that on the ring this is the perfect mode to use. From there the camera would adjust the shutter speed automatically and you can use this with a fixed or auto ISO, depending on your preference. As I mentioned already the lens is well build, the image even at f/1.2 is sharp and overall image contrast is great. At some extreme angle to the sun or really bright light source the lens does have a tendency to show to flair even with the hood on. This happens with every lens but I have to say that I love the flair looks on this lens and don’t mind it at all. It does not show up that often in most shooting scenario and it is not bothersome at all. The bokeh on this lens is decent and does a good job rendering out of focus background. Overall, the best part of this lens is the f/1.2 it is wide open and really allows you to throw the background out of focus. If you are looking for a good wide opening 50 mm, I would highly consider this lens. ... show more

  • Great lens
Size: 50mm F1.2-E
This is a great lens. It's sharp but not like a G-master. It certainly gets the job done. The only thing I don't like is how short the focus ring is. On other "dead" lenses I've seen you have to turn the focus a couple times around to get from one end of the range to the other. It makes it hard to nail focus like that. If it weren't for the a7iii having micro focus I don't know if this lens would be usable for any commerical applications. ... show more

  • Excellent Build and Quality for Manual 50mm f/1.2 RF Full Frame Lens for Canon
Size: 50mm F1.2-RF
This is my second Meike lens, so I wasn't surprised at the solid feel and build of this lens. It has some heft to it, but fits well and feels balanced on my Canon EOS RP. It also doesn't feel or look cheap, like some of the Canon lenses can. I took my Meike 50mm f/1.2 out on a cloudy, overcast day for a rural drive. Even though I typically look for good evening sun or golden hour for these type of drives, this lens makes even a dull, dreary midday an adventure with it's amazing bokeh abilities, and performance in low-light. You can have fun with a lens like this by getting close up, and making that f/1.2 work for you with excellent sharpness on the subject, but a nice, soft background. It makes you look at the mundane differently, and allows you to get some very creative shots that you normally might pass by. I love the way the lens makes me WORK the scene, much like a film camera, I pay more attention to details, depth of field, etc that make photography fun for me. Well worth the small investment given the high costs of most RF mount lenses. Very happy with this lens and look forward to using it for street photography and portraits as well. ... show more

  • Defective lens.
Size: 50mm F1.2-Z
The lens is defective, f-stop ring turns freely and it is suppose to click in place, hard to focus without moving the ring. I want to return it and get my money refunded, thank you. Earnest Botello

  • Fast prime for a reasonable price.
Size: 50mm F1.2-RF
The media could not be loaded. If you need an f/1.2, the Meike RF 50/1.2 is a reasonably priced competitor to the Canon versions. Since receiving mine, I’ve been able to use it a little around the house as well as on a portrait shoot. On my Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera, manual focus was easier than I had expected thanks to focus peaking, and I was able to get a very high percentage of photos in perfect focus. You can also zoom in to check focus before taking the photo. I found the lens to be quite sharp even at f1.2, especially in the center. The edges are a bit softer, but still comfortably sharp for portraits. The out of focus areas at wide apertures is very soft, and I find it pleasing. The only thing that I disliked about this lens is that the aperture ring does not click into the stops. The aperture ring turns smoothly but you have to look at it to see your aperture because it doesn’t have clicks. I think videographers would find this beneficial for smoothly changing the aperture. The focus ring is also smooth and easy to find. For less than twice the price of Canon’s 50/1.8, I think this lens is a good value, unless you are photographing something that requires the speed of autofocus. ... show more

It’s a cheap lens if you want a F1.2, but it is manual focus only.
