  • Great price and no issues
Style: for Sony
I’m by no means a photographer. I bought this for my Sony a6000 to get a wider angle for live streaming. The lens works perfectly and I have zero complaints. As of right now I’ve had it for about a month.

  • A nice lens!
Style: for Sony
I bought this lens 2 or so years ago, then forgot about it. Recently I purchased the Sigma 16mm ($400) and had a chance to compare the lenses. I ended up returning the Sigma 16mm because it was so long and heavy. The images are fine on the Sigma, but I found very good image quality on this Meke lens with even greater wide angle range, and excellent low light capability. So what if it is manual-as I grow in my skills, shooting manually is a skill I want to have. The lens, as well, is 1/2 the length of the Sigma lens and definitely lighter. People are funny in how they rate camera equipment. I travel internationally so size and weight matter to me. I think, from now on, I'll be bringing the following camera and lenses with me: Sony 18-135, Sony 70-350, The Meke 12mm, and possibly the Sigma 30mm. As well, I'll be bringing the Mavic mini drone, and the Weebill S gimbal. The drone and gimbal are because I'm starting to shoot videos/documentaries when I travel. ... show more

  • Terrible optics
Style: for Sony
My purchase of the Meike 12mm was intended for landscape, street, and night sky/milk way photography. It's a heavy, sturdy lens. Rings are tight and smooth, and have a grippy knurl. Soft click aperture. Threaded barrel will accept screw-on filters. It fits solidly on the camera. Mine arrived with no lens hood or lens pouch. There is no red dot to align with the body mount. At close distances (4 inches to 4 feet), center sharpness is outstanding, 10/10. Wide open and close up (4-30cm), depth of field is a centimeter, maybe less. I could not get a sharp subject at 10 feet or farther. Acceptable, but more like "snapshot" quality that belies mirrorless cameras' capabilities. I took test shots at fast shutter speeds, with focus peaking and a variety of f-stops. It was worse outside of the center third of the frame; edge sharpness was poor. No vignetting that I could see. Slight chromatic aberration (purple fringe) if you really look for it. Exaggerated perspective and some expected barrel distortion, with more barrel in the vertical than horizontal (shooting in landscape). SEVERE pincushion distortion at frame sides and corners. I mean, really bad. Imagine if you were photographing a buildings, and the side ones were all curved and stretched. Or a group of people, and anyone not in center frame looked like they were getting sucked into black holes. Returning the lens was a no-brainer. My advice is, if you're just playing around, get a wide angle converter instead. ... show more

  • Not quite good image quality.
Style: for Sony
As for the wide angle, oh yes its huge. You can capture a very wide scene without problem. However the image quality, either from short distance or far away (also midpoints) is not very sharp. The pictures are fine in general, but they wont make you go "wow!" and you wont enjoy much detail when zooming in. Gets the job done for its price, but if you want fine, sharp pictures, you probably should look elsewhere. ... show more

  • You Never Can Get The Lens to focus Sharp enough - All photos turn out Blurry - NOT FOR Landscape !
Style: for Sony
I got this lens for a photo Trip that I had planned & was hoping to get some great landscape shots, so I ordered this lens 2 weeks prior & it arrived 2 days later, Looks great - i pack it with all my gear for the 2 week long photo trip, got on location & started shooting with this lens @ some ocean scenery & noticed that it was difficult to get focus clear, you can go past or before focus & the images were still blurry. So I tested on 2 other Bodies, same results. It was too late to return lens for a refund & so I am unsure if this is just a quality control issue or if they all produce blurry photos, however my lens is unusable as is , So Test Your Lens before your return window closes ! ... show more

  • Amazing Landscape Lens
Style: for Sony
I love playing with this lens. I have a Sony a6000 and it seems to work really well with it. I am a relative novice but I picked up how to manually adjust the settings and play with the a6000 to get some really great photos. That being said, there can be quite a bit of distortion on the corners/edges and even with the wonderful tools the Sony a6000 has to focus, it can still be quite difficult to get a crisp and clear shot. But, again, this could be due to my novice experience. However, I almost always choose to shoot with this lens in a lot of settings. Recently, I was shooting some photography at an event with low lighting and it did spectacularly well. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
Style: for Sony
Got this mainly for use taking night sky photos. Works great. Also I have found that I like taking close in shots with it as well. I have it on a Sony a 6000 and turned everything off and use the camera in a totally manual mode. Am having a lot of fun with it. At night I may take up to 20 shots at a time and the manual focus is easy once you sort it all out. A great lense to learn manual with. ... show more

  • Beware Metal Shavings!
Style: for Sony
Overall I'm very happy with this lens. I think it's great value for the money and I was able to get some great images with it. I only noticed a slight issue with the focus ring where sometimes it seemed to tighten up or something, but it still turned ok and it hasn't caused any issues focusing. Edit: I've returned my model after finding metal shavings inside my camera mount and on the sensor. It could have just been the one i received, but not gonna risk ruining my sensor for a good deal. Hopefully your experience is different because it did produce good images. ... show more
