  • Perfect Winter Boots For Those With Leg Braces (AFO's)
Size: 11 Color: Charcoal
Received today from the seller Shoemetro, in perfect condition. They are Bearclaws latest style change of the Isabella. I would have preferred the ones pictured with the white X's, loop in the back and white patch as pictured in the Amazon ad, but these are still cute and have better hardware with the Bearclaw stamp on the rings and shoe lace rivets. I have an a older pair of Bearclaw Buckinghams in size 10, but have since gotten leg braces for drop foot, so I chose size 11 in these. By loosening the laces half way down, I could easily slip my leg braces in. They are like blades on the bottom and tore my previous Bearclaw boots causing the sole to separate (easily repaired with original Gorilla Glue and chip clips to hold them together for 24 hrs). This time I covered the lower blade of the brace with a sneaker sock to protect the boots. If you wear AFO's, you know the endless hunt for boots to fit. These are perfect! My blades fit in there snug and with laces you can adjust the room you need to strap your braces on your legs. My braces are True Life, with a funky bulge at the ankles and the brace is is the front of my shin. These boots accommodate everything even as snug as they are brand new. There are no pressure points to damage the boots with the braces on, strapped and pants tucked. The top of my calves are small (12") which allows for everything to fit, but this should work for larger calves and braces, because the laces and tongue can be adjusted. I said all this to help ppl with AFOS know that there are boots out there for you, or your children with braces, so now on to a review of he boots... The foot bed is a little snug, with no restrictions. They will break in nicely. After reading reviews, I verified they were both the same size, was gentle with the rivets that hold the laces, felt down in to the foot bed for any defects, and because this is the redesigned version with more support at the back of the ankle, I made sure that nothing was poking out from the back. The boots had no imperfections. I am very pleased! For those that have had the rivets pop off, please contact Bearclaw. They have good customer service. If you are beyond the 1 yr warranty with them and a shoe repair can't fix them, find someone to punch a hole where the riveted lace holders are and put a round grommet to feed the lace through (I think that's what they are called) and you will have serviceable boots for years to come. Especially with these soles, versus the flip flop type soles on some Bearclaws, UGGS, etc. The Isabella's have serious soles that will stand up to wear for many years and keep you safer in the elements. Another reason I chose these versus other Bearclaws. For those that just need warm boots, these are so comfy and WARM. My previous Bearclaws were similar to the Bearclaw Lauren's they have now. My feet would get very cold in those. Never going to happen in the Isabella. They are lightweight, which was a concern for me with leg braces added. Like walking on air. I'm attaching pics with the leg braces and also show others that this version is what you may receive. The ASIN Look up shows the white crosses, but the latest version on Bearclaws site are the ones I received. Amazon also has the latest version with a different ASIN, that are the same as what I received. Shipment was super fast from Shoemetro, came in original Bearclaw box, tags, etc and thankfully I only paid $65. shipped. Prices are all over the place with different sellers. The pics and ASINS can be very freakin confusing too lol. If you are unsure, contact the seller pre buy as to what stock they have. I prefer to buy directly from Amazon, because there is never a return shipping cost, but I was willing to pay return shipping to Shoemetro if need be, because they were $40 cheaper. I lucked out 😊 Also adding pics of my sole repair if anyone needs to repair lightweight soles on their boots. Clean both surfaces with a wet cloth > Wet area to activate the gorilla glue > Squeeze glue in lightly with bottle applicator > Wipe excess glue > Use chip clips as shown > Wait 24 hrs > Good as new. I will use a razor blade to get the little bit on my soles. Gorilla glue expands. ... show more

  • Love, love and LOVE!!!!!!!
Size: 9 Color: Hickory
The boots are FANTASTIC!!!! Just as the BEARPAW website indicated the boot will feel snug initially but it will adjust to your feet. I am normally a wide in shoe size and thought about going a size bigger. After reading some of the comments I decided to go with a 9M (I'm actually a 9 1/2 wide). Currently, I'm training for a 10k so my calves are super huge, but the boots accommodate them very well. With socks off, the wool is very comfortable and soft; my toes are no where near the front of the shoe. PLENTY of room! With socks on, it is snug. I suggest to wait it out for a day or two for it to go away; it should shape to your foot. Your foot will slide a little in the boot because of the wool but not a lot to where it's uncomfortable or troublesome. For the comments about the tab on the back of the boots, DO NOT pull on the boots by the tabs. Any tab on any pair of boots would break; that is not a defect on the boots. For the comments on the rings holding the laces, yes they are delicate, and I can see how they can break. Please do not yank on the laces when tying them. Tighten the laces one ring at a time while gradually going to the top; this should prevent them from breaking. If the do break after being delicate, they may be defective. When putting them on, they feel like moon boots lol. They're a life heavy, but not uncomfortable. The only negative thing I have about these boots are the laces. The laces are too skinny for my taste, and they look good for fashion purposes. I would recommend on buying flat boot laces to replace the skinny ones (which I'm doing now) so I can tie the boots comfortably. Plus, I think they look better with flat ones. Overall, I love the boots. They are indeed waterproof and will keep your feet extremely warm. Love, love and....... LOVE!!!!! ... show more

  • Warm and sturdy
Size: 7 Color: Charcoal
These came just in time as it is 13 degrees right now. A diff brand I ordered froze my feet and they were similar in price and I did happen to catch a sale on these. These are sturdy heavy duty boots with a thick sole and best I have ever had actually ate my first pair of Bearpaws. For me true to size, I wear a size 7 US. The laces are long enough to wrap around the full boot and back to the front for me, just makes it. I’m 5 ft 3 and was looking specifically for insulated mid calf boots and was having a hard time until I seen these and slightly higher than kid calf for me. They do shed a bit but I’m sure will go away over time. I can wear thick socks with them too. I can take my dog out and shovel etc and be good for a while in these. Been outside 45 min, garage smoker over here, and my toes and top of my feet are just now getting a bit cold but not frozen by any means and I can still feel warmth on my legs. They are bit stiff and seem to have like an interior plastic piece that supports the ankles which I do like prob is to help waterproof I am not certain. My only complaint thus far is I that I do wish the tongue was less bulky and was instead wider, it’s kind of scrunched under the laces. I’m sure because they’re still new so once they’re broken in. So far so good! ... show more

  • nice and warm
Size: 7 Color: Charcoal
I tried the boots. They feel nice and warm, however it's taking too long to take off the boots. I had to sit there and loosen the shoelaces from top to bottem to take them off. I will return them.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lasted 5 years before busting
Size: 12 Color: Charcoal
Man, these were a good pair of boots. No regrets. I have owned these boots for 5 years, and they just now have started to bust at the seams. Even now I'm wearing them with Gorilla Glue holding them together. They keep my feet warm for our Michigan winters. I am a teacher so I wear these every day outside with the kids, and they have been put through some abuse. I'm already putting a new pair on my Christmas list for next year. ... show more
