    • Rare 1/2 mountain bike pedals are an acceptable but not ideal option

Decent mountain bike type pedals in the 1/2" size (rather than the standard 5/8" size) are difficult to find even though they are required for the one piece cranksets on many kids bikes, inexpensive big box bikes and beach cruisers. The Neco pedals rotate with less friction than some of the few other options, but aren't equal to a standard Wellgo pedal with its 5/8" shaft in ease of rotation. The Necos seem generally well-made otherwise and probably will be usable for a long time. If you want broader options, for example for your beach cruiser, you can purchase a 5/8" to 1/2" converter on Amazon usable with any standard pedals. These will add 3/4" inch or so to the total pedal shaft length but otherwise should serve well. ... show more

I bought the wrong size threading but I was able to use the internal metal piece from my old pedals since those had nothing on them. My bike came with plastic pedals and they broke off within a week of getting the bike. I was able to fit these aluminum ones on it with relative ease.
