  • Pedal snapped off - dangerous!!!
I loved the pedals at first however after using them for 6 months, the pedal snapped off while I was in the middle of a cycle class. The pedal snapped off at the metal part in between the pedal and the part that screws into my bike. When it snapped off the metal part cut through my leggings and cut my leg. I couldn’t even get it off my shoes afterwards. Luckily I was able to catch myself on the handle bars or it would have been much worse. ... show more

  • Good pedal, but tensioning screws back out easily
I really wanted to love these pedals, but the tensioning screws have been a problem since day 1. Unlike the Shimano’s which have “click stops” to prevent the tensioning screw from backing out, the screw on these is free turning. Today on a 20mi ride, one of the screws vibrated/backed out, completely, and I lost the ability to clip in on that side. I flipped over to the other side and finished the ride but promptly switched these over to my spin bike and put the SPD’s on my gravel bike as soon as I got home. Good pedal, while I rode with them, but use lock tite on the screws, once you get the tension dialed in. ... show more

  • Easy to change, stable, and price was right!
I purchased these pedals after doing extensive reviews and looking for a descent price. I own a spin bike and recently changed my shoes, which required me to change my pedals too. There are so many options and I was overwhelmed! I found these and they proved to be super easy to change out from my other pedals. Right out of the box, they were easy to change and the tension is right to clip in and out. For reference, this is an indoor spin bike and my shoes are Tiem. I did use a YouTube video made specifically to change out Peloton pedals and that did the trick. Great value for everyday indoor spin use so I gave all 5 stars! ... show more

  • Nice entry level pedals
I'm not really much of a bike rider, but lately I've been going on some longer trips (about 20 miles once a week or so) and decided that it might be worth my while to invest in some clip in pedals. After reading about the two main types of clipless systems, I decided the SPD-style pedals would better fit my bill and budget, and desire to stay around $100 together with shoes. Installation was a breeze, once I purchased an additional wrench to get my unexpectedly heavy old regular rectangle pedals off, and these Venzo brand pedals slipped right into place. I haven't had any issues with the tension of the clipping mechanism after three solid rides so far, though I did have a bolt fall out of my shoe causing the shoe to get stuck clipped into the pedal -- I releasing the tension all the way got the shoe out but the small metal piece which the tension screw screws into is rather difficult to get back into position if it happens to fall out. The included cleats fit nicely on the shoes I bought and other than some embarrassing falls and general awkwardness getting in/out of the pedals, I haven't had any issues with these pedals. If you are a beginning cyclist like myself looking for an affordable entry to clipless pedal systems, these fit the bill well. I also have taken some shorter trips with regular non clip-in shoes with these and they are acceptably fine. ... show more

  • Great substitute for the Shimano SPD
I've been using the Shimano SPD pedal for 25 years. Love it. Why these things aren't any cheaper, I'll never know. its a great application for my mountain bike, road bike and rec/fitness spinning at the club. These pedals are adjustable for tension to enter and release. And the price is much better since I put these on every bike I own. I don't really want to pay top dollar for special pedals on every bike or buy dedicated shoes for every bike. I'd like to have the depth to wear any of my shoes on any of my bikes. For that I need several pedals, cleats, and this pedal helps keep cost down. ... show more

  • Squeaks and chirps endlessly. Tried twice, both did the same thing.
I'm on my second set of these. There are two noise issues with these pedals that were completely unacceptable after about 30 miles of riding. One issue that is easily solved was a repetitive squeak that comes from the rubber seals that cover where the pedals connect and protect stuff from getting into the bearing area. Couple drops of oil and that problem did not return. The deal breaker for me was that the cleats fit poorly and chirp constantly. When it first started on my second ride with these pedals, I thought it was the chirp of a Cardinal. Thought it was funny there was a cardinal following me around! Nope, it was the pedals. First just one, then the other. I isolated the noise to the cleat pedal connection. Tried adjusting the tension. Different types of lube help but the noise always returns within 30 miles. I also tried a thicker grease and that works better but after about 60 miles I would start to get intermittent chirping, less than before, but still there and getting worse. I greased after every ride (30 miles a day) but that seems unacceptably ridiculous. Returned the first set thinking I might have just gotten a lemon. Second set has done the same thing and will be going back as well. Paid a little more for a Shimano set so we will see how those work. If they squeak too I'm going back to toe clips. Other than the completely unacceptable noise these pedals made, they were great in every other aspect. That said, do yourself a favor and spend a little more to get the bigger better brand. Save yourself the time and frustration. ... show more

  • Excellent SPD alternative.
I actually use SPD's on my road bike, just out of love for the sheer simplicity of getting in and out. These took a little bit of breaking in (and a little loc-tite on the tension screws), but once they did, they worked just as well as any Shimano equivalent. If you're looking to go click-in with your pedals, SPD are great whether you're commuting, riding on the road, trail or anywhere. Getting in and out is a breeze with a little practice, even if it seems a little tedious at first. I've put several hundred miles and hundreds of clicks in and out. If you're a weight weenie, you might save a few grams elsewhere - but if you just like riding bikes, these are definitely worth a look. ... show more
