  • Works for intended purpose
Style: Pair Color: Blue
15 yrs having not heard anything in my left ear. Tried these. Boop. I can hear everything. These do not have noise reduction. They amplify everything around you. So there's a learning curve to how to use them. You can adjust the volume to where you can hear adequately. But whatever is making the most noise in the room is what you're going to hear predominantly over everything else. These are not $1,000 hearing aids. They're not sold as such. But they do deliver exactly what they say they'll do. You know they're cheap. Because you didn't pay a lot for them. So know that when you buy them. They are a replacement for going to a hearing doctor and buy an expensive set of hearing aids. But they will get you by. Now that I know there's Hope for hearing in my left ear. I will go to a specialist and let my insurance buy me the more expensive set. But this at least told me what I needed to know. That I'm not totally deaf in that ear. UPDATE: After several days of use I'm still happy with my product. I will attempt to help you with the adjustment of these devices, in order to make it easier for you. I only need this for one ear which I will refer to as my bad ear. I cannot hear without it in my bad ear. I can hear perfectly fine with this device. Setting the volume is a little tricky, and a lot of trial and error. I have found that by doing the following I can get the best results possible for me Take your hands and hold them about three or four inches from your good ear and clap your hands. Do the same thing with the device turned on and clap your hands about the same distance as you did and you're good here. Adjust the volume knob up and down until what you're hearing through the device is close to the same sound that you're getting on your good ear. Having these devices in both ears gave me a lot of echo and feedback. Fortunately I only need it for one ear. About charging the device. I admit and I did not read all the fine print and the instructions that came with these hearing aids or amplifiers. They charge just fine in a few hours. I tried to use the USB port on the side of my laptop as my power supply instead of plugging into an outlet. This did not work. So I only suggest using the power block that comes with these units to charge your devices with. Without them I can virtually hear nothing in one ear. My setting is a little past the number one. Just before I get to 2. They are very difficult to turn the volume up and down while you have it in your ear. You will need to remove it from your ear to properly adjust the volume. . Periodically you may need to remove it to turn it up as the battery becomes weaker. I suggest turning the unit on after it's fully charged from the charger. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes before you attempt to adjust the volume. If you try to do it straight from the charger you will find that after about 5 or 10 minutes of usage you will need to turn it up a little bit. This can be eliminated by just waiting 5 or 10 minutes before you attempt to set the volume. Now that I have discovered this. I no longer need to make any adjustments to the volume before I use it. Only needing it for one ear I can use one device for several hours then put it back in the charger and then pick up the second device and start using it in its place. This allows me to be able to hear perfectly fine all day all the way through till bedtime. ... show more

  • Very good for some...in some cases
Style: Single Ear Color: Blue
I'm finding that this device only amplifies what I already could hear, which is good because I can hear some things better, but it isn't most beneficial for me. For tones and frequencies that I couldn't hear before, I still can't hear, but my hearing loss is due to nerve damage. I really need a device that can be tweaked and programmed. I think this is a nice device, though, and it appears to be well-made. It is very comfortable and easy to use. I'm glad that I tried it, and I would use it for a back-up. I still have that "under water" sound, but it's not quite as noticeable while using the device. ... show more

  • Easy to use,

I have purchased these devices several times before and thought they were wonderful. The past two times I purchased them the quality definitely changed. They were not as durable and the chargers didn't always fit the device as the previous one I had purchased

  • So far so good
Style: Single Ear Color: Beige
This is my first hearing device so bear with my review. I was told a few years ago that due to nerve damage my hearing had suffered and eventually I would need aids. Right now I hear MOSTLY OK. For a while I have noticed a miss dialogue on movies at home and in theaters and decided to investigate getting hearing aids via my audiologist. The cost was astronomical $5000 and up and no where were there any cheaper. A friend at a local nursing home told me to look on Amazon-- I am sure you are as skeptical as I was but there were several units available. All were sound amplifiers NOT true aids but for $30 I thought worth the try. As I said, this is my first foray into the field here so first off they came with everything promised and I know I must have them in all day everyday for my brain to adjust, which I am doing. The sound quality is awful IF I have the volume up around 3, but at 1 to 1½ it seems fine and there is less reverberation. Am I truly hearing as I should? I have no idea but I know conversation is very loud now. TV can still be muted but another interesting fact is that SOME stations are better than others so I assume the audio output on some channels is better than others and has little to do with MY ears. A good point since many might blame the hearing devices rater than the TV itself. The big plus for me was bringing the unit to a friend who has had hearing aids for many years and having her try it. She put it in and said the sound was better than her expensive ones. Of course they aren't as clear as hers and there is more of a hollow sound to these but the volume was better and her advice to me was "WOW--great buy. I would not spend thousands on the professional ones unless you REALLY need them at some point. These are great and I am going to order a pair this week." That sums it up for now. Perfect? NO but at the cost well-worth trying it out. I have only had them for 4 days so check back in a year! I do wonder about the earplugs and sizes however as although I received 6, none seem to fit me perfectly and the unit does fall out from time to time. I believe I need smaller ones? Maybe I am not doing something right? Any advice would be most appreciated. ... show more
