  • Works Perfectly
Color: 5000k/4000k/3000k - 3cct white Size: 4 Inch
I love the "warmth" switch. LED lights tend to be very harsh, but the three way switch can make it a very pleasing color.

  • Worked great
Color: 5000k/4000k/3000k - 3cct white Size: 4 Inch
expected to just plug new light in. wasnt originally aware a junction box came with it. probably lucky new light wouldnt fit to old junction box. just a little more work to wire in new box. plus was new box had 3 brightness levels. Lowest level matched my existing lights

  • Reasonably priced LED ceiling light
Color: 5000k/4000k/3000k - 3cct white Size: 6 Inch
The Meconard is a single LED flat panel light fixture along with a junction box. The two connect with a short plug that securely screws together. The fixture is installed by cutting a 6-inch hole in the ceiling - a template is supplied with the exact dimension (the instructions say it’s 6.1 inches) and probably the best way is to use the template to draw a circle and make the cut with a dry-wall saw. The junction box goes into the ceiling first and you connect the power cable from the light switch by inserting the wire into Wago-type push in connectors (be sure to use cable clamps in the punch out). Naturally the breaker is off and I always check to make sure with a contactless voltage detector. The junction box needs to be very close to the hole in the ceiling because the connector to the LED panel is not very long. Make the connection and screw it on tight. The LED panel is wedged against the ceiling with two spring-loaded clips – dry-wall is what’s expected – but any type of material at least a half-inch or so with a bit of sturdiness would probably do. You flip up the springs, put the LED in the ceiling, the springs flip down and wedge the light to the ceiling, and you’re done. The instructions are reasonable – and not tiny, comprised of a full sheet of glossy paper folded up with a very readable font. They show the connections in the junction box but the color temperature switch, in this case there are 3 choices, isn’t mentioned. There is not much more to it. These lights are dimmable, according to the Amazon page, but the instructions do not list compatible dimmers – the Amazon page lists dimmers, all Lutron or Leviton. I wanted a smart dimmer, which I already had wired to my existing surface mount lights, and none of the listed compatible dimmers were hub-less, WiFi, neutral wire switches. So, I used my existing dimmer, a Treatlife (find it on Amazon, of course), and it appears to work just fine. One questions I have for myself is can you get the lights out without either messing up the ceiling or the LED? The only reason for even caring would be to change the color temperature after the fact. Considering that cans are done during rough-in the fact that here you’re installing these in a finished ceiling might be, would be, a useful feature…? As it turns out you can carefully pull down on the edges a little bit at a time around the edge where the springs are and eventually the panel will pop out. In any case, I’m very happy with this light. It was easy to install and provides a lot of light, appears to work with smart dimmers, and is very reasonably priced. How well it holds up over time is anybody’s guess but at this point I highly recommend this light. ... show more

  • Great Quality but pricy
Color: 5000k/4000k/3000k - 3cct white Size: 6 Inch
Needed a single unit for one of the hallway lights. This works excellent and seems durable. Junction box is nice and comes with a decent wire nut. The packs of 6 are around $10 a unit so $16 for one kind of stinks. Either way this one works as intended.

  • Good, generic ceiling light
Color: 5000k/4000k/3000k - 3cct white Size: 6 Inch
This is a type of light that's become popular because it's so easy to install and looks sleek and attractive as it sits flat against the ceiling. By moving the little black switch on the side of the metal wiring box, you can select a warmer or cooler light, depending on your preference. For the money, you can't beat this type of light, especially since it can be used in bathrooms and other damp areas. But the instructions leave something to be desired if you're a first-timer. I've installed a few of these before, so here's a tutorial for anyone who needs one. STEP 1: Make sure you've turned off the power to the wires in the ceiling that you're going to attach to the wiring box. Flip off the light switch that powered the old fixture that you're replacing, and for extra safety, also flip off the circuit breaker, then remove the old fixture. Detach the wires from the fixture. They will probably be attached with old plastic wire nuts, which you can simply unscrew. The round template is only necessary if you don't already have an opening of the same size in the ceiling where your current light is. Assuming you're using this to replace an older fixture, check the template against the ceiling opening after removing the current fixture. If it's the same size, you're good to go. If not... STEP 2: Carefully trace around the template, making certain that there is nothing but drywall where you will be cutting--no studs--then very carefully cut out the outline exactly in your ceiling's drywall. Your new fixture will eventually snap into this opening. STEP 3: Install the wiring box. The holes you see in the back of the box are there so you can attach it to a stud. Screw the box in with 2 small screws. Place it as close as you can to where your fixture will be. The wires that go from the box to the light are short and don't allow much leeway. STEP 4:Once the box is attached to the stud, take each of the wires that were previously attached to the old fixture and attach them to the orange wire nuts the wiring box. The wire nuts are already connected to the wires in the box, so you'll simply push the ceiling wires that were previously in your old fixture into the corresponding wire nuts, making sure the wire colors in each nut match. NOTE: you might, instead of a green coated wire, have a bare copper wire for your ground wire (see pic for example). If so, push the end of that bare wire into one of the little holes of the orange wire nut holding the green ground wire in the box as shown in the pic until it feels like it's snug and is not coming out again. Give it a tug to be sure. Do the same with the white and black wires, pushing the white wire from your ceiling wiring into the same orange nut as the white wire already connected to the orange wire nut in the box, and the black wire from your ceiling wiring into the wire nut already holding a black wire. Give each a tug to ensure they won't pull out. Then snap the box closed. STEP 5: With the 3 wires secure, line up the pins of the white plug attached to the light itself to the tiny pin openings in the the white plug of the wiring box, push them together, then screw the plastic nut over the connection to secure it. STEP 6: Lastly, pull back the blue tabs on the light, snap it into place, and voila! You're done. In some future year, when this light needs replacing, you just unsnap it from the ceiling, unscrew the white cord, detach the hot, neutral and ground wires, and replace the light with one of the virtually identical ones you'll find at that time. These lights, whatever the brand, are almost as interchangeable as light bulbs, and almost as easy to install, once you know how. ... show more
