The pages have a perforated line for easy/clean tear. The squares are not a dark color; however, you can still see them in poor light. Cover page is of a thin material, not as strong as the back carton. Would recommend to reinforce the first and last spiral holes to prevent tear with constant use.

i thought this was a regular lined notebook. I didn't read the product description well enough, to see that it was meant for use in math. None the less i rated it a 5 because it seems to be a quality notebook.

Simple things help. We use these with our 3 kids, ages 7, 10 and 12, for both writing and math. Good value for money, and all of my kids have given us feedback that using these notebooks have helped them write more clearly, and also stay more organized when writing out their math work.

My 13-year-old requested these but the paper is very thin and does not handle being erased well. The pages are somewhat see-thru and well for a child that is a bit heavy-handed in their handwriting prob try something else.
