This digital amp clamp meter has many more capabilities than just measuring current. I have compared measurements with this meter versus my Fluke 117 DMM, and found it amazingly accurate. It has triple the capabilities of Fluke 323,324, or 325, at half the price. One of the features every meter should have is a relative (REL) button to zero out meter during resistance measurements, this meter has it, the Fluke meters do not, along with many other features. I needed to find the inrush current for a blower motor connected to a UPS that would overload and alarm out on start up. Normally I swear by and will only use Fluke meters, but didn't want to spend almost $400 for something I would rarely ever use. Was going to buy another brand that was more heavily advertised, but searching the model number led me to this unit. It was identical except for the brand name, and quite a bit cheaper. So far it's worked well and seems accurate. Personally, I won't be using it to measure 480VAC or other high voltages, but for the specific purpose I bought it for, it seems great. ... show more

I got this to track down where I was using so much electricity and causing a draw. It worked flawlessly on tracking down a grinder in my shop that was constantly drawing amps even being turned off. I did use it to measure a few other things just to see exactly how much was being pulled when different tools were on, and it seemed to be pretty accurate and very user friendly to use. This meter packs a lot of functionality. This is not something that you would likely use for a lab situation, but for general use it is quite good. I did some checks with voltage, resistance, and capacitance. DC and AC voltage was virtually the same as too older basic meters. Measuring current does tend to be off slightly compared to some other clamp meters. In my case it appears to be a constant factor, so if you have another meter (non-clamp) that can measure the same current and then compare with what the clamp meter reports you can determine a conversion factor to use with this meter if you need more precise measurements. Also be certain to orient the clamp properly and center the wire with in the clamp opening to get the proper readings. The inrush appears to work well, and all of the other functions work as advertised. I did some resistance, capacitance and diode readings and compared with the other meters, as well as a couple of component testers. Everything was within tolerance. Temperature reading with the probe displays in both C and F. I believe that the thermocouple is reading a bit low, at least in the range of 60 to 90 degrees. I haven't tried lower or higher so it may read closer in different range. The thermocouple likely can be easily damaged so take care when using it. There is a Centigrade temperature displayed in the upper right of the display for all selections other than Hz%. This appears to be an internal temperature, and I didn't see any mention of this in the manual. There was another review that was critical that the response to changing voltage wasn't as quick as a higher priced meter. Given the price difference that is not unexpected, but I rarely try to use a meter to track changing voltage. I typically use the scope for those types of tasks. Pros: Good price. Lots of functionality. Other than current other measurements appear to be accurate and in agreement with other meters. Includes AC inrush current. Cons: Accuracy of clamp on current is not as good as it could be. Temperature accuracy may be slightly off. Response to changing voltage levels is slower than some meters. If you are not using this meter for lab measurements it should be a good work horse. The current measurement accuracy can be compensated for if you can use a known current source to calibrate, or a meter that is considered to have higher accuracy, then you can determine the factor to apply to what this meter reports for current measurements. but remember that how you position the wire inside the clamp will impact the accuracy of your current reading. This meter works well enough for my needs, and if I needed another one in the future I would likely order this again. ... show more
