  • Very impressive (long term update)
I've had a chance to change a few tires and balance them. I can say that, at least so far, everything works great. I've changed a couple of 35x12.5x15's and the changer handled them fine. As for the balancer, it works better than my old FMC, which was actually a very nice balancer itself. Its a little (very little) more work to set the values in because the FMC had a key pad you could use to directly input the values. On the Mayflower you have to scroll up or down to get the values you want in there. The old FMC had static, dynamic, and aluminum settings. This one has those too but it includes more variations for aluminum wheels allowing different calculations for different weight placements. This worked out really nicely for me on a set of Volvo wheels I just balanced. This balancer will also accommodate motorcycle wheels with an adapter. My FMC could not. Overall I am very pleased with this setup. I am quite honestly surprised by the quality. One thing I will mention is that delivery is a little difficult. You must be home to sign for the shipment if you have it shipped to your house. They used Road Runner which was very accommodating (4hr delivery window). The seller was also amazing at communication. They answered emails amazingly quickly and answered all of my questions. 8/3/2024 Tire Changer Someone asked me the other day about this setup because they are considering buying one. That made me think about it and look up this review. I did this review shortly after I bought it and hadn't changed many tires and also didn't know how it would be over time. Looking, I bought this way back in 2018! Well over 5 years ago. I figured now would be a good time for an update. The previous review is still spot on. I don't use it in a commercial capacity, but I have changed a LOT of tires over the last 5+ years. Besides the fact that I have a very long commute (1 hr each way) I also own a few collector cars. In addition, I raced Motorcycles with MotorAmerica almost since I bought it. In order to change motorcycle tires I just had to buy an adaptor kit to raise the wheel further from the table. Needless to say, I changed many many motorcycle tires. I even went as far as to put the changer on wheels and loaded it into my trailer to take to the race track! The balancer for the motorcycle tires was a problem, but I'll address that in a bit. As far as the changer itself goes, it has worked completely flawlessly. Both for motorcycle tires and car/truck tires. I've yet to run into a tire I couldn't change. Some of the low profile performance tires I have done were a super PITA and required a lot of effort. It wasn't due to any shortcomings of the machine, It is the lack of a flexible sidewall to work with. The machine itself handles anything I throw at it. Over the years this tool has been well worth having. Though changing tires is quite a bit of physical work, even with a machine, it's way more convenient than making appointments and waiting around while it's being done. Plus, I mail order all of my tires and shop around for the lowest price. Without running the numbers, I'd say this unit has paid for it's plus some. Wheel Balancer Just as with the tire changer, that original review is also spot on. It's quick and accurate, for car/truck tires and wheels. I even have quick change wire wheels (spline drive hub) and it works with those too. There is an adaptor for hubbed wheels, they are very expensive and I don't see the need. Speaking of adaptors, if you were to want to balance motorcycle wheels with this unit you need an adaptor. It's not outrageously expensive, but skip it. I did buy one, and tried to balance motorcycle wheels. It just doesn't work. It's not the machine I don't believe, it's the adaptor that is the problem. When you balance a wheel, the easiest way to ensure you have it correct is to remove the wheel (or loosen it and rotate it on the spindle) remount it, and spin it again. If it says it is 0.00/0.00 it is correctly balanced. If you get new numbers, it is not. With the motorcycle adaptor I could never get a wheel to repeat. This unit is not advertised to balance MC wheels so it isn't a deal breaker at all. I'm just pointing it out, in case you had a thought of trying this. The good thing about MC wheels is that with as narrow as the wheels are (even the rears on sport bikes) a cheap static balancer works perfectly fine. I raced Daytona and Road America (as well as many others) hitting 185MPH with static balanced wheels with no problems at all. Recap Both the tire changer and wheel balancer have worked flawlessly to this point. For a commercial shop, I'm not sure these would fit the bill. With multiple people of varying degrees of experience and care using it, it may not put up with the abuse. Add in almost constant use and I would think that getting a much more expensive unit would be in order, maybe not though. For the home shop, even one like mine where it gets used very often, they have been flawless. I stand strongly behind my 5 star rating! ... show more

  • Great deal
Tire machine works great, assembly was easy, the balancer is a a little quirky but seems to work fine. Great deal for small volume shop or home use, I would get a better balancer if you were doing this daily.

  • Good for a home shop changing average sized tires. Customer service sucks.
I've owned this tire changer and balancer for about a year and have changed and balanced about 50 tires so far. The balancer works perfectly after calibration and purchasing larger truck size cones. You need to level and bolt the tire machine to the ground. If you don't, you'll have lots of problems balancing tires. There were some quirks with the tire changer in the beginning. I had to do some research on setting the duck head position for it to work properly. I don't know if it was just my machine but mine came from the factory with the duck head way off and kept ripping beads (old practice tires). Got it in the proper position with the adjustment screws and it now works flawlessly. They claim that the tire changer can change a 37" tire and up to 12" wide wheel. This is very deceiving advertising. It can barely change a 35 inch tire. I've added a photo of a 35"x12.50 tire on the machine and it rubs on the tower. 35x12.50 is the largest that the 950 will accommodate. Also it will not mount a 35x12.50r20 on a 10" wide rim. out of the box. I called customer support and they said it can mount up to 37x8" tire. On a 12" wide wheel. First, no one runs a 37x8"..... Second, it physically cannot handle a 37" tire.. customer service basically told me to go kick rocks and that I can make a tower spacer if I want to mount wide tires. Luckily I'm a cad graphic designer and plasma table operator so I made a spacer out of 5/8" plate that gave me 6 more inches of clearance. I've added pics of the spacer and the cad drawing. I designed and made a spacer to bring the duckhead lower to accommodate the tower being higher so that I can still change 5" wide tires. I also needed to buy some pneumatic hose because the two hoses that connect to the tank/tower needed to be extended about 6-8 inches. All in all, for your average passenger car, this machine will work great, for oversized tires, the 950 will need to be modified. I gave it 4 stars because of the price was really good and after my modifications, the tire changer works flawlessly. ... show more

  • Perfect for a home or small business
After working in garages and managed several tire shops I am thrilled with the quality vs cost for these machines. I've mounted and balanced about 36 tires on them so far. The bead breaker is awesome. zero issues. The turn table and it's motor and clamping system, no issues. The mast and shoe for mounting and dismounting both steel and aluminum rims, no issues. The balancer took a little bit of a learning curve for me to get the settings right but I have no complaints about tires not riding smooth. Zero issues. If you do 3/4 and 1 ton truck tires you will need a larger cone for the balancer. The tire machine inflator was set from the factory at 33psi. I could not get over 33psi into a tire plus even when you only want 32 psi the last several pounds take a long time to add up. I took the side plate off and adjusted the regulator. now no problem. The bead blaster is weak. It's not like I'm used to but I have a portable bead seater tank I use on stubborn tires. I would buy them again and recommend them to friends. Last thing, I've become so much more popular in the neighborhood. ... show more
