I thought this was some generic brand which is why I kept glossing over it, but given the reviews I ordered it and saw its actually a Bemis. It says "Mayfair by Bemis" everywhere on it. I don't know why they use another name, possibly to denote another factory? Anyway, I bought two of these to use in the rental house we are living in and they are great. Glossy, plastic, easy to clean. I can see folks scratching them up if you use something even mildly abrasive, but just be careful and you'll be fine.     • Seems fine. However the lower portion of Part D would not snap off on one side as indicated

I am giving this toilet seat 4 starts because I was unable to complete the instructions as directed on one side. The lower portion of part D is supposed to snap off when the upper portion of part D is sufficiently tight. The lower portion snapped off on one side. However when I tightened the other side the lower portion would not snap off - I had already applied significant torque and was concerned that I would strip the plastic threads on part D or crack the ceramic toilet if I continued tightening. So I stopped and left the lower portion of part D intact on one side. It's off on the other side. No big deal since it's hidden behind the toilet itself. Just be forewarned. Don't continue to tighten Part D if you've exerted sufficient torque and the lower portion has not broken off - Else you will likely strip the plastic threads on part D or crack the ceramic toilet. ... show more
