  • Good blades
Cuts good

  • My experience using it on a Snapper 82V electric battery mower (don't do it).
First I weighed the 2 blades, OEM was 1.15 lbs and Maxpower 1.82 lbs. When installed the Maxpower gave dramatically more air flow, the catcher was inflated to full fluff immediately! But, it caused the high motor speed to trigger on and never drop back down (Snapper has 2 motor speeds that you can't change manually, it auto senses the high load of tall grass). I ignored that and started mowing. Battery life was reduced by 75%! In the few rounds I mowed, the catcher was packed doubly full, and very heavy. And the under deck clumping problem absolutely gone. The blade performance is excellent, but NOT for a battery electric mower. And mine is higher voltage than most. So since this wasn't going to work as-is, I decided to hack it. I cut away parts of the metal to reduce weight, while trying to retain the integrity of the blade. I got it down to 1.23 lbs. Same problems happened. Then I thought, maybe it's not the weight, but the wind resistance of the wings that's triggering the high speed. I cut off the innermost wings, same problems happened. My final mod was to cut the next wings, leaving only the outermost ones (see photo). At this point the motor started on low, but once you cut ANY height of grass the motor went to high speed and stayed there. Remarkably, it still had better air flow than the stock blade. So for the time being I'm going back to the stock blade. The only other option I can think of is to go with the new EGO high lift blade (AB2101), it's the correct weight for electric mowers and has a more modest lift wing, but as I've demonstrated you don't need much. To make it fit a non-EGO mower, it would probably be easier to modify the plastic "fan" mounting surface that it bolts to than trying to drill new guide holes in hardened steel. Oh, and on my Snapper, although the deck decal says 21" the actual blade length is 20", so you NEED to take actual measurements. I think someone else said they encountered that on a different electric mower brand as well. I initially bought a 21" Maxpower and it scraped part of the deck when installed, had to return it. The thought occurred to me that the lifespan of the batteries will probably be shortened by such deep-cycle draining of using an aftermarket blade and running on constant high speed. And they're not cheap to replace, in my case they are $127 each. AND your probably wearing out (overheating) your electric motor prematurely. AND your definitely voiding your warranty. ... show more

  • It's ok.
A little expensive and mulching isn't the greatest but it doesn't bog down my mower anymore, compared to my regular blade. The adapter washers make this blade fit my mower with a center bolt of 9/16". I placed the included large washer over the adapter washer thats already in the center of the blade, put some blue Loctite on the threads of the bolt, placed the locking washer over the bolt and tightened it securely onto the mower per torque spec of 35-55 ft. lbs. Good buy but like I said, a little pricey and does ok mulching. I did have to sharpen the blade and rebalance it with a blade balance tool, so it does wobble, vibrate and damage my mower. Good luck and stay safe working in your lawnmower! ... show more

  • Fits EGO 56v mower but overheats the battery.
UPDATE: After using it for a while the EGO mower just can't seem to handle the extra weight of the blade and ramps up the RPM much higher than needed. After 10-15 minutes the 56v 5.0Ah battery overheats and shuts down. It could be that due to the better mulching capability it needs to keep it spinning faster to grind up the grass. Really disappointed because this mulches much better than the stock blade the mower came with. I wonder if the larger 7.5Ah battery could handle it better. I'm going to keep the blade because whenever this mower dies I am probably going to switch to a high horsepower gas mower. Someone said this blade won't fit the EGO mower, but I was able to make it work. One of the washers is a tight fit on the output shaft but as you tighten the bolt it will snug in to place. You will still need to use the indexed factory washer with the bolt since the output shaft sticks out a little bit past the blade. This blade is a lot heavier than the factory EGO blade and it about a 1/4" shorter so you're not losing a ton of cutting width. The EGO blade measures about 20 1/4". The mower takes longer to spin up to speed but it works. The blade has basically no sharp edge to it. I had to spend some time sharpening it before I installed it. Little surprised that the blade is flat ad doesn't have a bump up to lift the grass. Too much rain to cut the grass right now, but once I do I will update with how well it mulches the grass vs the factory EGO multi-purpose blade. ... show more

  • Great grass mulcher.
Installed it for mulching the grass does a good job reducing the size of the discharged clippings. Arrived in a box that was not sealed tightly on the bottom so the washer assortment was missing. Instead of sending it back I used washers that I had and they worked great.

  • Extremely Happy, Expectations Exceeded!
I rarely write product reviews on Amazon, simply because I rarely have the time to do so. However, I am MAKING the time to write this review because I feel it is well-warranted. I will be honest and say that I had sub-standard expectations when ordering this blade. For the price, I expected a blade that worked better than the old, dull blade I replaced, but those expectations were highly exceeded. I live in an area that is near a swamp. When it rains, my yard stays wet for many days in some cases. With a standard, or dull blade, my mower was just not cutting it. So, I purchased this blade hoping to have some reprieve. And I did! I attached this to my mower the same day I received it and a day after some rain. In fact, in the area I live, we have been having some very heavy rains, which was preventing me from having the ability to mow my lawn. I decided to just give this a try, and I did not have an regrets. I had to use the highest setting on my mower to accommodate the level of the grass, and this blade made very easy work on my lawn. It required much less effort to mow my lawn with the very extreme mulching power of this blade. I plan to go lower on the setting and mow a couple days from now to get my lawn to the level I want it to be. I simply could not be more satisfied. If you want a blade that performs well, this is your blade. ... show more
