  • Used to be 5 stars but new version is lower quality. Recommend assembling in a different order.
A friend and I assembled the Max and Lily double bunk and two triple bunks, all of which are identical in their part numbers and assembly process. The double bunk was top quality and easy to assemble, but the triples were not nearly the same quality, although the bolts and assembly were still the same. They had been out of stock so the triples I purchased are the newer version and they have clearly cut some corners in the manufacturing process. The new beds have very poor paint quality with lots of flaws, the slats are made out of plywood instead of a single piece of wood, one of the holes for the metal rods isn't straight (it was wrong on both triples and had to be hammered in), and the steel bar is cheaper with corners that are sharper than the original version. The pilot holes for the brackets holding the steel bar are in the wrong place (on both triples), so be sure to use the bottom holes, not the top holes, or else the steel bar will be too high to install the slats. The directions are easy to follow if you pay close attention to detail. However, we assembled them in a different order so that we weren't trying to lift a completed bed into the air while fitting the legs onto the metal rods that connect it to the lower bunk. That would have taken 4 people. Instead, we assembled each bed in its place, on top of the lower bunks. We started by assembling all of the headboards/footboards. Each bunk is slightly different, so be sure to keep the pairs together. Then we connected the bottom bunk head and foot boards with the 2 long boards that hold the slats. We pushed the bolts in all the way to help hold up the long boards, then pulled the bolts out one at a time to screw them into the nut, using an impact driver. We fully tightened every bolt at each step. We stopped there, skipped some pages, and inserted the 5" metal rods into the tops of the legs, and put the next bunk's head and foot boards on those metal rods, on top of the bottom bunk. Then we attached both back guard rails at the same time by first hammering the dowels into the head/footboards with a rubber mallet and then guiding the holes in the ends of the boards onto the dowels sticking out. Then we attached the boards that hold up the slats, again pushing in all of the bolts to help hold it in place while we screwed the bolts into the nuts. We stopped there, inserted the metal rods on top of the legs, and put on the top two head and foot boards. Attached the back guard rails, then the 2 long boards that hold up the slats. Then we attached the two metal brackets, using the bottom pilot holes, not the top holes, and attached the steel bars on each of the top bunks. Then the slats. Then the front guard rails. And finally the ladders. The double bunk took us 5 hours because we took our time to fully understand the directions and to sort all of the nuts and bolts into different bowls. The first triple took us 3.5 hrs. The 2nd triple took only 2.5 hrs. I highly recommend using an impact driver. The beds are sturdy and beautiful, if you don't look too closely at the poor paint job on the two triples. I bought 6' foam pipe covers and cut them in half lengthwise and duct taped them to the underside of the steel bars to keep the children from bumping their heads. I paid more for the Max and Lily bunk mattresses and glad I did--they are high quality and a perfect fit. Can't wait for my grandkids to come visit! ... show more

  • My kiddos love this bed!
Color: White Style Name: Low Bunk
This bunk bed took my husband and I a few hours to put together. We had one small hiccup where one of the metal bar mounts did not have the holes drilled. Luckily my husband has a drill press and was able to drill the holes needed. Bed was packaged great with lots of padding to make sure the frame wouldn't get damaged during shipping. We had no major issues. It took about a week and a half to get to us after ordering. ... show more

  • Perfect for my 6yr and 2yr old
Color: Grey Style Name: Low Bunk
I absolutely love this bed. I bought this bed for my kids when my daughter outgrew her crib. I love that the bottom bed is on the floor and the bunk bed itself is less than 5ft tall. I don't have to worry about my oldest kid falling off the top bunk or him getting hurt by the ceiling fan if he sat up on his bed. My oldest is on the heavier side about 75lbs. ... show more

  • Affordability is not worth sacrificing safety
Color: White Style Name: Low Bunk + Slide
The media could not be loaded. Look this bed is cute and all. Affordable as well. But after personally growing up with real wood furniture that was actually fully finished this is horrible. The ends are rough and ragged. Splicing my finger open while taking them out of the package and shedding everywhere. While I'm not doubting their claim of real wood man it's not great wood. The guardrail is a piece of crap for the top. There has gotta be a way to reinforce it more with some type of metal brackets because it wiggles if my 36lbs 4 1/2 year old even leans on it. That little screw I'm holding? It's held in by 6 of those total. Just 6 little screws. I for some reason assumed the whole bed would be wood. No. The slide is actually a flimsy wobbly plastic board that completely relies on its wood frame and supports. Which isn't the worst thing in the world. Just obvious cost cutting. The top end of the bed as you can see in my video is literally cracking apart and I can see glue. So. Fantastic. I saw other reviews as well saying that the top bunk should have a bunkie board. So I took the bunkie board we have from out actual solid wood bunk my kids are too small still to use and chucked it on the top bunk. I've seen reviews stating mattresses would sink through the gaps and with young kids I'm not taking chances. Also you can't see it but twin mattresses don't even fit this bed. I have two twin mattresses one being 17 years old and fitting other twin beds fine and a brand new memory foam. Both leave atleast an inch or two gap on the side which is uh...yikes. Understanding why they want you to buy their mattresses now that supposedly fit their beds perfectly. It's enough of a gap that you may not care enough about but honestly with young tots I worry about it being enough for them to get stuck. Yea though. Coincidence enough for me that mattresses bought 17 yrs apart from completely different brands that fit other twins fine magically have a gap in this and they advertise having their own mattresses. And that guardrail I mentioned earlier being held in by those little nothing screws? Just want you to know thats how the slide and ladder are stabilized on the side as well. They have metal hangers but guess what. Those are also held in by those same screws. Also in nature yes wood has some imperfections but yeesh look at a couple of these. These were far from natural imperfections. Most were human error. Our parts came with divets dug in the side and painted over, weird looking dot chew marks, and as you can see in one picture just straight up put together wrong. I couldn't even fix that. Overall if you're fine with some instability, your actual twin size mattress having a gap, cosmetic defects they tried to cover up, and some splinters and cuts be my guess. The bed overall is pretty sturdy feeling despite the ladder and guardrail. It did come with all the wrenches needed save for a mallet and X head screwdriver. This bed is absolute perfect for my two toddlers who are 3 and 4 1/2. 3 yr old uses bottom bunk which is practically on the floor and the ladder is small and perfect for the older kid who has no issue at all getting to the top. Also the slide is super steep. Fair warning. ... show more

  • Great bed, kids don’t fall out
Color: Pecan Style Name: Low Bunk
Bed is pretty tough, only thing would have been nice is a foam cover for the metal bar under the top bunk. We solved it with some pipe insulation from Lowe’s.

  • Pretty decent bed
Color: Pecan Style Name: Low Bunk
I really like this bunkbed. It's sturdy and well constructed. My 8yr old and I put it together in about 2 hrs. I had to deduct a star for a three reasons. First, the instructions were picture only with a step missing. Second, all the hardware was bagged together and you had to pick through to find what you needed. Last, the color looked more natural wood than pecan. I was trying to match preexisting furniture. ... show more
