Perfect for my two year old border collie. She’s had a Max and Leo martingale collar since she was a puppy. Her S was completely extended and we replaced it with a L in exactly the same style. Love love love martingale!…..especially for controlling an active breed. It’s more humane than a choke chain for training yet works the same way. The martingale loop allows you to tighten the grip and keep your dog from wiggling out of her collar when she spots a squirrel or cat. I did some research on different collars as my pup doesn’t respond to harnesses as well during walks and found this collar to work very well. It has been durable and held up well after three months of use. My pup isn’t too rough and doesn’t chew on leashes/collars so I can’t speak on that but from what we’ve needed thus far, this collar has been good! I haven’t needed the “lock” feature but tested it out once out of curiosity and it seemed to work well. The fact it also reflects light for walks at night is also a bonus! ... show more

I was very impressed by the quality of this collar. The buckle is plastic, but heavy duty. To adjust the size you have to add some pull, but it definitely is not slipping to a larger size. The fabric of the collar seems quite durable. And best of all, the first time my dog tried to slip his collarthe martingale style immediately did it's job of tightening and he quickly snapped to obedience. Don't worry PETA, is didn't even come close to choking him. It tightened just enough so he could not slip his collar and a gentle tug after remined him who the alfa female in the pack was. ... show more

These Max and Neo martingale dog collars are just what I was looking for. My 65 lb. dog grew out of the first one and I just ordered/received a larger size. They are sturdy and very well made. I use it when we go on walks when I need more control than with his harness. He won't slip out of it, and it's more humane than a chain "choke" collar. Perfect!
