  • The Originals Are The Best!
Don’t know what prompted the maker to change the designs and illustrations on these cards to require us to associate a symbol for Skip, Reverse, etc., but for us who remember to focus on strategy and not guessing what the symbols mean, the Original designs are the best. Was happy to find these!

  • UNO! I WON!
The media could not be loaded. The older the game the better I say! The Mattel Games UNO Retro Edition brings back nostalgic fun with a classic twist. Featuring the iconic original artwork and packaging from the 1970s, it's a blast from the past! With the same exciting gameplay that's entertained generations, this edition offers endless hours of family-friendly entertainment. It is one of my families all time favorite- we travel with it, we camp with it- we take to reunions because all ages can play!!! I think we have 5-7 decks of all the latest and greatest UNO collections but nothing is pulled out of our game closet more! UNO... I WON:O) ... show more

  • Retro style Uno
These cards feel really nice and I like the original look they have to them they work very well and I like these simple design to them along with the black they also work very well when you're playing in a room that has a black light in it.

  • Perfectly nostalgic
I’m not a fan of the over designed current version. So I was excited to see I could get the retro version

  • Original UNO
I purchased this as I DO NOT care for the new UNO card games. I wanted the original UNO card game and this was the ONLY place I have found it. Great game.

  • Pretty close to original design
Another reviewer said that they're smaller than the originals, but they're not. I've attached two photos, one of each side (sorry for the quality, but I took them with a Fire tablet, not a real camera). This product's "retro" design is on the left, and an original 80s card is shown on the right. They're not *exactly* the same, as you can see. Although they are the same size, the design has been altered a bit. I'm happy to report that the "worded" cards -- Reverse, Draw Two, etc. -- remain essentially the same, again altered only slightly as these are. The most common objection to the "modern" design that I keep hearing is that these wordless cards feature odd symbols that are supposed to *represent* what you're to do (draw two, reverse, skip, etc.), but they're hardly intuitive. It takes just a second to process that, but it's that slight hesitation that ruins the fun. I happen to hate the new design as well, but this deck is the antidote. They're just a bit pricey, is all. Nevertheless, I do recommend them. Mine arrived in new condition, and a day ahead of promise, so no issues there either! On the off-chance that I won't be able to find these things again (and knowing that the cases never last), I wrapped some clear shipping tape around the top half of the case so it won't tear when cards are removed/replaced. Office tape ("Scotch" type) isn't strong enough. Another reviewer mentioned this issue, so I thought it best to do this as a precaution. After all, the case for my 80s deck is long gone, the whole thing plus instruction sheet held together with a rubber band. Speaking of which -- The instruction sheet is reproduced essentially verbatim from the original. However, the original was two-color (red and black) on both sides, and included ordering information for specialty products, like the Uno t-shirt (just $5.50!) and hat, etc. The one included here is simple black-and-white, and harder to read, partly because the font is much, much smaller. Everything is squeezed onto one side, because the reverse has instructions in four other languages. ... show more
