I have used them a couple of times at the beach for the shelter. They held strong when other peoples shelters blew away. So far it’s been great. Use a garden scoop for the sand: it makes them easier to fill.

Ordered this Item to use without canopy. The product is NOT well made. the zippers were easily pulled open. That could be worked around, but the straps on the bags were made way too long, making it so that when you wrap them around the leg of the canopy the velcro closure would not meet. When I tried to go to their webpage for help, the site would not load. When I emailed them through Amazon, they wanted photos, so I sent them. Their suggestion was to wrap the strap around more than once. First of all, the strap was not long enough for that, and secondly if it was, then the velcro would have been covered. Their next solution was for me to try and figure out a way to tie the strap around it. Ummm, no, that's not why I bought them! They were absolutely NO help!!!! ... show more

    • Sand Bags That Actually Work

We have purchased several different sets in the past. Sand bags, generally aren't too expensive, so these are fairly typical in the price range of most sand bags no matter the style. They are extremely sturdy and zero rips or tears upon inspection right out of the box. Filled with sand, these hefty sand bags are great for our canopy, (which is a high end, heavy duty canopy). I was truly concerned that with the high winds that we have in the desert that these were not going to work. We have regular umbrellas as well that we use for our outdoor glass tables and they have the heavy duty stands, and they do not withstand our high winds. On breezy days they work totally fine, but not high wind days. And if those umbrella stands which are extremely heavy, can't withstand the high winds, I really didn't know if these sand bags were going to be able to bode well either. I had optimism and hope that they would surprise us, and they did. Very pleased with the weight that these can hold down and they stayed where we position them. The real test was a 50-60 mph windy day, with rain showers. This storm was whipin everything around in the back yard and all I could think was, "cool, there goes the new expensive canopy". Amazingly enough, it didn't move an inch after being pelted by the rain and the winds for well over 6 hours. Super impressive and absolutely worth it. I have a feeling we will be getting more for other various things, so if you are going to get them and it's within your budget, it would be worth it to grab 3 or more sets depending on your needs. Aside from the various other needs, I want to grab more just in case we need to move the canopy and if where we need to move it to, isn't as stable as where we have it now and needs more reinforcement of weight.
