I recently purchased this collar for Cooper, my 110-pound black Lab/Newfoundland mix breed. This is actually my second collar from this brand because he outgrew the first one. Let me tell you why I highly recommend it. Firstly, the thickness of the collar is perfect for a big dog like Cooper. It's robust and durable, with no issues in quality. The material used is top-notch, and it still looks great even after a year of use. The standout feature for me is its suggestibility quality. At night, it's often challenging to spot Cooper, but this collar's light comes in handy. Cooper thinks he's a small dog and insists on following me everywhere. This collar makes sure I don't accidentally step on him in the dark. One thing I love is that I rarely need to charge this collar. It holds up remarkably well, and the light is reliable. It's truly a must-buy for any dog owner, especially those with large and active pups. It's worth every penny and has lasted from when Cooper was just three months old to now at one year, even as he transitioned from a medium to a large size. We have had two of these collars (red & orange) for almost 3.5 years now and they are still functioning well. Where we live, it rains 3/4 of the year and we have a creek right next to our house, so the waterproof part was a main concern. We also live at the base of mountain and with a forest backing our house, so durability was important. Finally, we live on a 40 mph street and get animals like bears and porcupines in our yard regularly, so visibility was also a huge concern. Our big guy is all black and disappears into the night completely. He doesn’t wander far, but our medium girl has been known to chase after otters and such, so cars are a real danger. I will note that we do not keep the collars on all the time. We only put them on when we let them out or take them on walks at night as it seemed unrealistic to us that any collar could stand up to both so much rain and the creek water plus normal wear-and-tear if they were worn 24/7. They are a bit difficult to adjust the size on because of the light strip, and our dogs’ hair go back and forth between fluffy and very short depending on the temperatures and such so we would need to adjust them every month or two if they were their main collars. We did adjust the large collar in the beginning but the covering began to fray a little so we just left it at the default setting. It fits well when he has a full coat and is a little loose when he’s short, but not enough that it can fall off. And he doesn’t run off through the woods like our other one so we don’t really have to worry about it catching on branches and such. The little rubbery plugs that cover the charging port wore off after awhile but it hasn’t been an issue. The way we use them, we only have to charge them once a month or so, and they still charge and seem to hold their charges as well as they did when new. They like wearing them as they know it means a walk/to go out, so they never try to remove them or chew on them. Overall, we are impressed with how well these collars have withstood the 3+ years of use they’ve had. We got them hoping for a year of use, and maybe if they wore them constantly that would have been true. Even then, they would have been well-worth the price we paid. Before we got these, we had had tried tube-style light-up collars and one literally fell to pieces within a week and the other stopped working soon after. And the small tag ones never lasted long with the rain and didn’t offer enough visibility for our needs. We put their collars to flash on and off when they’re outside, as all drivers know red/orange flashing lights mean caution/slow down. I don’t know if the flashing lights help with the bears and animals; they seem to have helped, but it could also be that their jingling tags warn of their approach. Unless their quality has declined in the past three years, I would recommend these collars to anyone. We’re thinking of getting replacement collars now, as it’s been so long and they’re got to die eventually. But also as backup for the rare times we don’t realize they need to be charged up again until we go to use them. We don’t have to charge them often, so we forget occasionally. If we purchase them again and find their quality has declined or they break, we’ll make sure to edit this review to reflect that. ... show more

We purchased both a size small and a medium for our adult and puppy Shih-tzu based off the measurements listed in the description. Puppy's neck is approximately 12 inches and our adult is approximately 15 inches. The width of the collar at 1-inch is really too wide and bulky for a puppy, so we purchased another collar that is only half an inch wide, and it's a better fit; we'll use it until he gets full-sized and then switch back to this one. The medium was just too large for our adult, and we tried the size small on him, and it was a much better fit, so we exchanged sizes. Both the blue and the orange are nice and bright and were very visible in our dark back yard when we tested them. ... show more

    • Bright and charge lasts a long time

I liked this product so much that I ordered a second collar when my puppy outgrew her first one. One charge lasts us weeks, even with it on for an hour or more each day. I like the plastic buckle, it’s light and quiet. It’s easy to turn off and on. One downside: size adjustability isn’t the best. It’s a little awkward to pull the light up part of the collar through the adjuster buckle. The ideal adjustment is such that the collar is almost all the way extended while wearing, so measure and get the smallest size that will work for your dog. ... show more

This has held up well over the summer that I've had it. My dog is a lab and loves water, and it has withstood that as well as playing with other dogs. It is important to make sure the clear rubber piece is slid over the USB port when its going to get wet. I forgot once and it started to spaz out a bit, but once it was dry everything was fine. Battery lasts many evenings without needing to charge. Only complaint is that its a little too easy to bump it on by accident, and a long press to turn on and off would have been preferable to instantaneous click. ... show more

I had originally purchased this collar in orange and blue as I love taking my dogs to the park late at night and need them to be visible. The orange was brilliant, the blue left a lot to be desired. The blue is so much less visible that I was able to lose sight of my girl a couple times. We ended up getting her the green instead and it is so much better. The power button is a bit tough to press but cannot fault that as it also reduces the chance of my wrestling pups accidently turning it off ... show more

This collar worked really well for a few days then stopped taking a charge so no longer lights up. We’ve had some rain and it seems that being wet has negatively impacted the collar. It’s still a very nice collar- bright and reflective. We’re on the trails everyday before sunrise and it’s hunting season so need as much visibility as possible. ... show more
