This is just better than a toy, but it is a $19.99 ukulele. I got it for a fun gift for a friend and spent a few days tuning it in advance of giving it to her. By the end of the third day it was holding decently, but the strings are definitely bargain strings. If you want the cheapest way out on an instrument to play with and to take to places it might be abused, go for it! This one will get the job done! For myself, however, I bought a Donner tenor ukulele for $90 that is so far and above this one it is pretty sad. I have to say, though, learning to play the ukulele has made me so happy. So if $19.99 is your budget, go for it! Expect to spend a little more time getting it tuned correctly and possibly dealing with less than fabulous tone. The G on this one goes flat when played fretted, open is fine. It's really weird. ... show more

This is a very cheap ukelele. I am not experienced but wanted a decent one to start playing with, I tuned this and it did not hold. After playing for 3 minutes or so, I had to retune and things still sounded off. One of the strings almost broke when I was trying to tune it. It comes VERY out of tune so be prepared. I would just spend 50 bucks on a good uke if you really want to play. This is not worth it unless for a young child to mess around with, with no intention of playing. ... show more

This is a pretty instrument, though mine had a chip in the paint, quite noticeable, white showing through the red on the edge. I tried to tune it for a week before class, not realizing that the screw in the bushing was loose. It takes a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten, but it's easy once the problem is identified. If anyone's buying, save time and order a clip-on tuner at the same time. I wish I had. ... show more
