  • No more suction cups
I actually did not notice I was ordering a "stand up" thermometer when I placed the order, but when it arrived I was very pleased with this design. Every suction cup thermometer I've had eventually slips loose and winds up floating around the tank. This thermometer just sits on the bottom, and stays put. I'll never get another suction cup thermometer again. Love it. ... show more

  • Dependable, floating means it rotates, miniscule reading
Dependable temperature readings (a miracle in itself!) It rests on the bottom of your tank, and is not attached to anything. Even without fish in the tank, and a filter that hardly moves any water, this will drift a bit off from where I placed it, rotating to the side, making it difficult to impossible to see the red temp line. The temp scale and number print is SO TINY that I have to use my cellphone camera to read it. (Maybe YOU can read microscopic print.) The next one I get will have suction to attach it firmly to the glass... and I'll keep on zooming in with my cellphone to read it. Unless YOU can give me a better, more readable, but dependable option! Happy hunting! ... show more

  • The range is so compressed its harder to read than competitors
Just one problem: the temperature reading is hard to discern because they crammed 120F degrees of increments on a short white plastic piece so there is not enough distance from 40 degrees up to 90 degrees, the entire range is all squashed down so they could fit 120F temperature on the scale. Dont need 120F, it's for aquariums not cooking! Shoulda made the scale from 40 to 90 (or 100) to stretch the scale longer so you could read the temperature at a glance instead of squinting close at the thermometer for a long time. This brand is very accurate though. ... show more

  • Get what you paid for
Bought it because I wanted a free standing thermometer for our tiny fish tank and it was a bonus that it was inexpensive. You get what you paid for since it only worked for 3 1/2 weeks before picking it up from the tank and it broke. Simply lifted it out of the tank and the bottom fell off and all of the little silver metal balls fell to the bottom of the tank. Thankfully the fish was out while we were getting ready to clean it. Almost impossible to sift out the little balls out of the rocks…what a mess! Was hard to read anyway…not worth two cents if you ask me! ... show more

  • Hard to read
The thermometer is small, floats to the bottom and stays upright. But I couldn’t read the numbers with my glasses on and a giant magnifying glass. The green band is between 70 and 80 degrees. However everything I read for tropical betta fish says their tank needs to be between 75 and 85. It is good in general but not as specific as I would like. I bought a heater and want to change the temp incrementally by degrees. You get what you pay for. ... show more

  • Inexpensive but not useful
I purchased this quickly without checking that it comes with a suction cup to attach it to my tank. I'm not sure how people attach it without that but I can't even use it at this point so I wasted money and need to reorder.

  • Basic, works
Not much else to say - a nice basic thermometer. A bit difficult to read, but if you make a note of the temp range before you drop it in the tank, then "reading" the liquid becomes a little easier.

  • Works great
Works great. Does what its supposed to do. Stands straight on its own because its weighed at the bottom with metal balls inside. Just drop it into the tank. My only problem is that its hard to read from certain angles. It tends to slowly turn on its own so it ends up facing another directiong. But is sturdy and pretty accurate. I like it. ... show more
