Description

The Slim S10 Power Filter bundle pack comes with a filter and filter media. The Slim S10 Power Filter's unique design is compact and slim, thus reducing space behind your aquarium. The filter comes equipped with an adjustable flow control so you can control the water flow level in your tank. The Slim S10 Power Filter's motor is submerged in the tank for a quiet operation and an easy start-up since no priming is required. Installation and maintenance are quick, easy and convenient and the Slim S10 Power Filter includes 2 filter cartridges: 1 Bio-Carb and 1 Bio-Clear. Both cartridges contain Ceramitek, which is engineered to optimize biological filtration, for a healthy aquarium. The Marina Slim Filter Carbon Plus Ceramic Cartridge combines activated carbon and Ceramitek in one cartridge for a healthy aquarium. The activated carbon effectively removes pollutants and odors, while the Ceramitek, a highly porous ceramic biological filter medium optimizes biological filtration. The easy-to- use disposable cartridge should be replaced every two weeks. Make sure to never replace all filter cartridges at the same time in order to ensure constant presence of beneficial bacteria. The Marina Slim Filter Zeolite Plus Ceramic Cartridge combines Zeolite and Ceramitek in one cartridge for a healthy aquarium. The Zeolite effectively adsorbs toxic ammonia and reduces stress on fish, while the Ceramitek, a highly porous ceramic biological filter medium optimizes biological filtration. The easy-to-use disposable cartridge should be replaced every two weeks. Never replace all filter cartridges at the same time in order to ensure constant presence of beneficial bacteria.

  • Good and quiet.
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I love this filter, and I have one on all three of my tanks, but it does have its faults. Let me explain. Pros: very quiet, which is a must for me as I have one of my tanks in the bedroom. Customizable, and keeps water clear. I like that the filter is clear so I can see if it's looking like the filter material needs a change. Cons: after about 4-5+ years they run the risk of failing. By failing I mean leaking. This is a risk you take with all out of tank filters. It can be bad as it will keep pumping water and keep leaking till you realize. My solution to this was placing a dollar store black sheet pan under my tank, or my tanks stand, with a little alarm that goes off when wet. This alerted me when my filter started leaking and i was able to turn off and replace it before it truely leaked everywhere. For the price and longevity of use I'm not mad about it. It also can make a vibration noise where the inlet tube goes past the outlet water guide. I just placed a piece of filter foam between. Because it's clear it's possible to get algae growth. I painted the side closest to the tank black and left the rest clear so I can see why my filter media needs changing and have had no issues since. I did deduct a start for the cons. Overall it has some things you may decide you don't like. But for me the pros and cost outweigh the cons and I have solutions for each con that are low effort on my part. I'm satisfied and will keep buying. ... show more

  • Amazing filter
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Absolutely love this filter. I changed the media cartridges in it out. On the side the water flows in and the middle I have sponge filter, and on the left side I have bio max. Sometimes tanks get cloudy when being cleaned and take about an hour or 2 to clear up, only took 20 minutes to have crystal clear water again. Betta loves I can change the flow, and shrimpnoive to hang out on prefilter. Changed pre filter to one that was more fine ... show more

  • Fantastic filter!
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I have had small aquariums for many years. This is the best outside filter I have ever used. It is very quiet and the adjustable flow is great for bettas and small tanks. The foam intake primary filter catches a lot of the debris that would otherwise have to go through the filter cartridges. It would be great if the filter bags could be refilled but that is a minor issue. I rarely write any reviews but this filter warrants one. ... show more

  • Perfect for my Betta
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
My betta is a much happier fish now that you can control the flow on this filter. The last filter i had was just bullying him around.

  • Good Filter with Some Modifications
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I was trying to decide whether to get the Fluval C2 or this Marina slim line model. I chose this model, because it is slim and unobtrusive and I like the clear color compared to the Fluval C2, which has that weird gaudy red basket inside. Also, the reviews are more positive for the durability of this unit compared to the Fluval C2, which has propeller noise and failure issues. The motor on this unit sits inside of the tank, which helps with noise dampening and cooling, so it won't overheat and fail. I also like that when the electric cuts out, due to storms or whatever, that the unit self primes and re-starts; in case I'm not at home to refill the reservoir back with water. I dose liquid fertilizers in my tank (because I have live plants), so I didn't use the included carbon filter or the floss filter in the box. The carbon filter will remove the plant chemicals I'm trying to introduce into the tank, which defeats the purpose of dosing and the floss filter is an added expense I don't need, since I make my own floss filters. The right side of the intake filter is filled with the yellow Aquaclear foam to remove large debris, the center has Poly-fil sheets that are folded to increase the surface area for water cleaning, and the left side has the 20 gallon Aquaclear ceramic rings. You can get the Poly-fil sheets for making blankets and cut them to size from Wal-Mart. I don't buy the pet store brands (due to cost) and the Wal-Mart Poly-Fil white sheets are cheaper with no deleterious effects to my fish and shrimps in the tank. Although, this filter is fairly quiet the splashing sounds of water exiting the discharge chute are a bit loud and keeps me awake. Also, I have the Aqueon Ascent 10 gallon rimless tank where the back of the tank is higher than the front. Therefore, I cannot add more water to make up the difference between the distance of the discharge chute and the water line level. These are 1st world problems people!! Solution: Use the fake clear American Express plastic cards they are always sending in the mail to add length to the discharge chute. I cut the card to size, so that it fits snugly in the discharge chute. Then use super glue gel to adhere the card to the flat bottom part of the chute and wait 30 minutes for dry and set time. Then apply GE clear silicone gel to seal the card in place, so that it won't fall into the aquarium from the force of the water pressing down on the card. The GE clear silicone has a set time of 30 minutes also, so I'm up and running within an hour. Make sure you only use 100% clear silicone, because other sealants have additives that will leach in to your tank and kill all your fish and shrimps. Also, if you notice that your outflow is not as strong; it helps to take apart the plastic housing surrounding the impeller and clean the funk gunk (with q-tips) that will accumulate in there over time. I also like to get a q-tip and apply a thin coat of white petrolatum jelly to the outside of the impeller body and the silver shaft to minimize noise and prolong life. Some peeps have complained about noise hum. It has to do with the black plastic round piece you rotate to adjust the level of the filter. It touches the glass and therefore the motor transfers the vibration to that plastic piece, which resonates off of the glass. I cut a little square piece off of the felt furniture pad they use for furniture feet. Then peeled off the adhesive backing and stuck it to the back glass. The black plastic leveler rests on the furniture pad and the noise is not transferred to the glass. You can also use the rubber peel & stick rubber bumpers. Easy fix folks. March 2020 Update: I got rid of my terrible Aqueon Ascent aquarium and purchased a different 10 gallon aquarium with all the sides even at the top. Now, I have a Tidal 35 filter I bought off Amazon and I hate to say it, but I like the Tidal 35 better than the Marina filter. The new filter has an adjustable water flow that provides really nice surface water agitation and the box is large enough for me to customize with sponge filters, filter floss, and bio-media rocks. The Tidal 35 also self-primes after a power failure. Click on that helpful tab if this info was awesome 4U-Thanks. ... show more

  • Totally silent and seems to be doing its job. Will update. See update.
Style: up to 10 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Just set up new ten gallon tank with an S10 Marina. Totally silent. Sitting right next to it and hear nothing. The new substrate is Flourite, which is popular but is notorious for clouding the water with a red haze. The next day, the water was crystal clear. We’ll see if this filter stands the test of time. Update…Its been four months now, still totally silent and water is clean and clear. I made an awesome choice and I highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great minimal filter
Style: up to 15 Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I love these filters for smaller tanks with not much bioload such as a shrimp tank. The included pre filter sponge is a great thing to have if you end up with baby fish or have a shrimp. Cleaning is also simples as each compartment is divided. Also easy to clean the basket without having to disconnect the power cord as you can prop the intake on the tank while you move the filter box to the sink. Same goes for the strainer and tube, I remove the motor part and just set it on the basket while I clean the tubes, no need to unplug the power. As for the noise, it is minimal. The motor in the tank is great if you loose power often as it self primes once the power comes back on. The only time I get some noise is when the lid is not seated properly. Now the one thing I do not like is that it only has one point of contact with the tank so it can inadvertently get pulled to one side or the other when you are working on the tank. 2 legs would allow for a much secure feel to the filter. ... show more
