  • Cute, but Slightly Smaller than Advertised
These marimo arrived packaged in a durable plastic case, which protected them from the elements in transit. They weren't dried out, despite being shipped to a very hot climate. I've given them a rinse and settled them into their new home. The only issue I see is that these are definitely smaller than the listing states. Their diameter is comparable to a US quarter coin (about 2.5cm), which is 1cm smaller than stated. Not a huge issue, though, as they're all a decent size and they seem relatively healthy. ... show more

  • Larger than expected, healthy on arrival.
Ordered six balls/kernals, each one was just over an inch in size and looked very healthy. Tips for keeping them healthy include keeping them out of direct sunlight. Mine are in a well tended planted nano aquarium. Shrimp love them. A couple balls that were initially placed in more direct light started to turn pale. Moved to shade and hopefully they will bounce back. The full-shade placed kernals are green and fluffy. After several weeks. ... show more

  • Marimo Moss Balls
Bought this to put in my honu's hale. It seems to help with keeping his hale odor-free and it makes his hale look more homie.

  • Tiny but alive
They came alive and bright green, but they are only about a quarter in diameter. Hoping to see good growth from them in my aquariums

  • Small

  • The Real Deal!
These are absolutely REAL and in great shape! I've been burned by a different seller on Ebay whose "marimo moss balls" turned out to be balled up pieces of green felt fabric. These ones I received here from this Amazon seller are healthy and great quality. I divided them up because I needed to fill numerous smaller containers. In doing so, the difference was immediately noticeable. You can tell when it's a real plant (algae) vs synthetic fabric. For one, having lost some moisture in transit, these balls floated when placed in water. Marimo balls will also float if you squeeze the water out of them. They sink after absorbing enough water. Considering they shipped from China, 6 days to delivery was not bad at all. ... show more

  • Worms
The media could not be loaded. I decided to break apart 4 out of the 8 that I purchased. I put 4 in one tank and 4 in another. One tank having only 2 Mystery Snails. Everything was new in the tank, freshly cycled. 3 out of the 4 balls that i opened up and spread out became infested with what looked like tiny worms and cocoons. The other didn’t seem to have anything on it. I have other plants and they’ve been with me for a couple tanks, always washed and inspected. I’ve read this is normal, but can get out of control from over feeding. I’m not sure what else cAn contribute to this but I’m not overfeeding my snails, but having a lower level substrate for plants maybe can contribute? I removed all 8 from both tanks and threw them away. ... show more

  • The real deal!
These are real marimo! I pulled one apart and there were no sponges and they arrived perfectly green and healthy. The four I received were about 1-1.25" diameter and were perfectly green and fluffy. My neocaridinia shrimp love them! I did quarantine them in a jar for two weeks to check for any zebra mussels that may have made it past customs and there were no hitchhikers. The only downside is shipping takes forever, but you have to keep in mind they're coming from across the globe and they get quarantined at customs for two weeks. So that's completely understandable. I can't remember if I ordered once or twice from this seller but I definitely preferred them to other sellers I've used on Amazon. Absolutely worth the price, especially with how difficult it is to find these moss balls at the moment. ... show more
