East to assemble. I have a very long home/work desk so I actually purchased two of these and placed them side by side. The screws on the sides do not fit flush as this wood I believe is bamboo. So I simply used a piece of scrap wood and made depressions so the screws would fit flush into this spacer I made. The little drawer at the bottom is not heavy duty but makes a good place to fit items. Great way to organize pens, pencils and everything else. I saw some complaints that this product is difficult or a pain to assemble. Its really not that bad. Just find something thats "square", or something like a square block that you can use to keep the pieces at a straght 90 degree angle when screwing them in. Hell even a cardboard box would work. Just anything that is "square" all the way around. I was spectical of the way the pieces are screwed together (see my pictures) but just make damn sure that screw goes in straight and once you start getting it together it starts to feel more sturdy. Took me about an hour or so to assemble. All in all, for the price, I'm happy. I needed something to hold all my pens, markers and other stationary and it works for what I need it for. Only thing I can't figure out is the extra pieces that came in the box. One of them looks kinda like a bunny rabbit and the other is a offset letter H lol (see my pictures). There's no where left to attach these peices. I'm not sure if it's like their company logo or a decorative kinda thing or if it was just a mistake but I thought it was funny. Im sitting there like huh?? Where in the hell does this go?? lol My only complaint after just building it, is that it's kinda a dust magnet. ^^^^^ I'd like to amend this sentence. It actually doesn't collect dust like I thought. I realized that taking the plastic wrapping off of the pieces probably created a static cling or something, which attracted the dust at first. But I've had it about 5 weeks now and its definitely not a dust magnet. I love it. I looks cool IMO, and holds all my pens, pencils and markers nicely. I have tape and scissors in the drawer. It has helped me stay more organized. I plan on buying more pens/markers/etc. for drawing and I'll most likely buy one of the different models similar to this to hold them all.     • Defects render it unbuildable

So this happened to me TWICE as I encountered a defect, returned the original, and the replacement version had the exact same problem. First off, this thing is smaller than it looks in the pictures. Second, you can smell it the second you open the package. It's not a good smell, just a weird chemical/factory smell. Okay, whatever, I have some febreeze and that's fine. The building instructions are pretty straightforward. It shows and labels each piece, gives easy to understand pictures and diagrams showing you how to attach each piece, and the organizer shouldn't be too complicated to build. The fiber board is cut so that the pieces slot together, and then the connections are reinforced by visible screws. Some pieces have little oval holes laser cut into them so that the protruding grooves on other pieces slot through. My problem is piece 9. It's missing 2 of the holes necessary in order to connect it with pieces 5 and 6. The holes are visible in the instructions, but they are simply not there on the piece itself. Because of this, the pieces do not fit together and the product cannot be built. When I discovered this on the first product I received, I submitted my request for a replacement product with the details on piece 9, explaining that the holes had not been cut. After eagerly waiting for the replacement, it arrived today with the exact same defect. Holes missing on the exact same piece. This time though, Amazon did not give me the option to ask for a replacement. I will never know if the third time's the charm, as I will not be reordering again. (Also, going through reviews upon writing my own and someone named Shelly ran into the SAME PROBLEM with a "defective L shape" aka piece 9!!) ... show more

I was looking for a solution to hold all the various implements I use at my desk. I have paintbrushes, pens/pencils, screwdrivers, scissors, etc. I was very happy with it when I first got it. It took up less space than the various containers I had before. I was constantly knocking those over as well, and would always spend time searching for what I wanted because they were overloaded with things. This organizer makes it much easier to sort things into categories and allow me to more quickly find what I want. However, I find myself knocking long items out of the cubbies quite often. They aren't very deep and don't hold onto long items very securely. This really isn't the fault of the product itself, just not suited to my needs specifically and is something to think about if you're going to buy it. Pros: -Sturdy -Small footprint -Holds quite a few things -Very easy to assemble (I don't understand people having trouble. It's a very simple design) Cons: -Not designed for longer items/heavy handles (e.g. screwdrivers, scissors, etc) -Not the prettiest as it is laser cut material held together by crosshead screws (which are exposed to some degree) -Some cubbies not as useful as others for holding onto items -The drawer is very small and not very useful for much ... show more
