  • Great for my room
I have placed this in a 12 x 16 foot room. Massive wattage not needed due to smallish room, and minimal equipment footprint desired. Speakers are good bookshelves to that end. GoldenEar BRX. Streaming thru a generic DAC, I gotta say I'm impressed with sound quality and volume capabilities. Ditto with the built in phono MM preamp through TEAC-TN-300 turntable with factory Audio Technica AT-VM95E cartridge. Clearly not a high cost setup, I think I gotta bunch of bang for my bucks. ... show more

  • Great upper end receiver for phonos with mm cartridges
I have gotten several older Marantz receivers online, because they have special circuitry for the moving magnetic phono cartridge - I love the sound they produce. Trouble is, the older ones never lasted very long, and often did not arrive with both channels intact. There was a price drop on this one which convinced me to give it a try - beautiful, rich sound like the older units, but likely to last a lot longer. Totally worth the expense. ... show more

  • Missing power cord
Seems like a great amplifier but without the power cord I’m not able to hook it up I live about an hour from town I drove over an hour away to find one but couldn’t find one even Best Buy doesn’t carry them so I might have to return it

  • Vs Sonos and PM7000N
Bought this one because of bad experience with the PM7000N. This definitely sounded better than that. I have 2 quad 22Ls and I had to crank it up all the way to listen to it with my movies and music at the volume that I like which is ridiculously loud, I am partially deaf. So if you don’t listen to your music and movies at a reasonable volume and don’t have behemoth of speakers this would be a much better investment than the PM7000N. Sonos amp at the same price point sounded like garbage. That has a lot more power but that’s it, it was loud but sound quality was worse than my car setup which has good speakers and a medium range Kenwood receiver. ... show more

  • Very good sound
Good amp. Very clear and gets loud as you could want. I don’t think there is better entry amp then maranta.

  • Sensational sound, just needs power
As always, Marantz sound is phenomenal. You just aren't going to push most high end speakers with this model, so buy an amp before you buy high wattage speakers. I am building a budget hifi system and currently have this paired with a Fluance 84 turntable and Polk ES50 speakers and the sound is awesome at moderate volume. Not so good if I go loud, but again, that is because the amp needs more power. Can't beat the sound for the price! ... show more

  • Sounds great and plenty of power!
I was concerned 45 WPC wouldn't cut the mustard but man this thing rocks. Imo sounds louder than my Onkyo HT receiver that's supposedly 125 per. I'm pushing a pair of KEF q350's and I barely turn it over a quarter most of the time. The built in phono stage is on par with my pro-ject phono box s, much better than my schiit mani. The built in dac sounds better than my topping e30. I'm usually a cheapskate but have zero regrets with this purchase, it's a fantastic piece of equipment! ... show more
