I most generally wait at least a little while to write product reviews, at least until I am able to provide complete and totally honest reviews, because if you're like me, you really value others experiences with products, and and rely on reviews to make purchasing decisions but with this product, it is UNBELIEVABLE! I have years worth of PERMANENT black dye in my hair, and I am just ready for a change, but anyway, as soon as I wet my hair and applied this shampoo, I could see it going to work to remove the dye! No awful smell, it is a bit thick, but for as effective as it is, i can handle that. I am amazed by this! It is going to save me from spending hundreds in a salon! Im not exactly where I want to be, but MAJOR improvement already, just after one use! The only thing that I cannot stress enough is to make sure you have a moisturizing conditioner and/or hair mask. i did have to use both because as I was rinsing it out, I could barely get my fingers through it and felt like i had a head full of dry straw. I just cant believe what a difference one time has made with this. I am going to use again, as Im not fully where i would like to be, but this is great!! I recently have gotten back into hair extensions. I use tape in extensions, which leave a bit of residue that needs to be combed out with bond remover. The bond remover can be pretty oily, depending on brand/type, and between the oily bond remover and residual tape residue, I needed (and still do need) some hard core shampoo that would removal all foreign oils/substances. This stuff works great!!! My hair made literal 'squeaky clean' sounds as I was running my fingers through it, all the way to the ends, pushing water out of my hair. I couldn't believe it... I have heard of the expression 'squeaky clean' before, I've even used it myself to describe something that has been cleansed really well, but I have never actually heard the 'squeak' of 'squeaky-clean' before. I have bleach platinum blonde #1001 type hair, so I am not sure how this would fair on colored/dyed hair. My hair does not have any color/dye and it did a fantastic job of cleaning my hair. I washed my hair twice. I would have only done 1 wash as it was clean/residue free to me, but there is a reason why shampoo bottles say rinse and repeat. So I washed it twicem ... show more

The smell is great. Very inoffensive. My hair actually felt really good afterward. I DID have to take the cap off, though. It's VERY thick and difficult to squeeze out. All in all, though, it's good stuff. I recommend it, especially for a pre-dye wash.

I like this shampoo. I feel as though my hair is so clean. I can't tell if any of the color was removed but I will use it again. I recommend for thoroughly clean hair.

I ordered this shampoo in hopes that it would remove my demi-permanent hair dye. I have been using it for a week and I have noticed that my hair has lightened up some but it has not removed dye. It does seem to be a great clarifying shampoo and I am sure will expedite the process of the demi-permanent dye coming out but it is not meant to remove hair dye. ... show more

    • It is an excellent clarifying shampoo.
My hair came out too dark. I wanted to rectify that but I wanted to be very careful about drying out my hair. This shampoo did help fade the color and I was thrilled. If you use this do not use it everyday and afterwards always use a deeply moisturizing conditioner.

This shampoo does a great job of removing product build up from the hair and preparing it for color if desired. I used it without conditioner follow-up, so it left my hair drier than usual and more tangly. But, it was soft and manageable once dried.

definitely works! faded my black box dye back to my natural brown. but dries your hair out soooo much. i use only once a week with a leave in conditioner & oil treatment right after..
