This is a good quality mat. I love the color I got. The smell is present for the first few days but I left it unrolled and it is now gone. As for grip- pretty decent. I don't do heated classes so I'm not overly sweaty. My palms will occasionally slip a little but not bad. If you want a really non slip mat for heated classes I would choose Jade yoga mats. I will only buy Manduka yoga gear and nothing else. The quality is just unbeatable. This is my second Manduka mat and it's slightly heavier than my first. Read the weight descriptions. I had to buy a strap for this as it's a little heavy for me that's all.

The mat is solid, but I purchased it over a week ago and it is still off-gassing and it is smelling up my entire apartment and my yoga classes, somewhat embarrassing. I wish they would like pre-off-gas the product so we don't have to deal with it because it smells pretty bad.     • This is my second eKO mat. I now have a travel mat and one just for the house.

The only thing I wish was that it was thicker. 4mm is thinner I have learned. That said, I am keeping it. It is an excellent mat for yoga. It provides superior grip. I know my hands are not going to slip in down dog. I already own the eKOlite travel yoga mat. I love it. It stayed in my gym bag in the car so it was always handy. It is COVID now. I took it out of my car to use in the house because my house yoga mat wasn’t nearly the same quality. I purchased this one after forgetting to put my travel one in the car when I went away. There were no brick and mortar stores that had a yoga mat. I tried using a towel to do yoga while away. It didn’t work well at all. I wanted another eKOlite mat because my travel mat is 2 years old and is still in great shape and the stickiness works like the first day I used it I do clean it but not nearly as much as I should. I also chose the eKOlite because it is eco friendly, made from biodegradable non-Amazon harvested natural tree rubber. Another factor in choosing is the length. I am 5’7 and the 68 inch mats work well enough but I wanted something a little longer. The 3 inches of what this provides is exactly what I needed. I also chose this because of its superior grip. It does have a natural rubber scent when first used. I remember this with my first one. It did last a bit of time for the odor to go away. It does go away though. The 4 mm thickness is dense. It is not soft. I was concerned about this with my knees at first. I laid out Another more plush yoga mat next to this one and alternated between the two to see the difference. What I realized was my knee sank to the floor on the plush one not really providing me with much padding anyhow. The eKO mat is very stable under me. I really like this mat for its grip and stability. It's also nice because it's mostly natural rubber. Be careful what kind of cleaners you use - some cleaners degrade the surface quickly!

I've been practicing yoga for 10+ years off and on and will be doing yoga study soon so I wanted to invest in a really good mat that was eco-friendly. Pros: -Nonslip! Got sweaty hands and feet even just sitting in class before it starts? Get this mat! I'm the sweatiest person I know, and this is definitely a lifesaver for those downward facing dogs. -If you sweat, this color won't show it. Plus, it is somewhat waterproof. My sweat drops go splat and pool up so I wipe those in between my practice, but there is some moisture still on the mat. Still, significant upgrade from my other mats. -Eco-friendly!! I tried to throw away my old mats, but my garbage company wouldn't take them. Upon doing some research, it turns out that many, many yoga mats are not recyclable. As I try to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle, this has definitely become a friend in my practice. Cons: -It does smell...I mean, it is rubber, right? Here's a tip. Don't touch your face right away when showering because you will taste/smell strong rubber. I just wash my hands now before I hop in the shower. -I wish there were more designs to select from for this brand and price range. I'd especially love a mat with lines as I continue to get my footing right. ... show more
