I got this to replace, or maybe augment, a ridiculously expensive mandoline I received as a gift a few years ago. (It has its own suitcase and costs about 8X what I paid for this one). This one is so much more convenient to setup, use, and clean I don't think the other will come out of its case anytime soon. The dual flip-over blade and combination thickness/julienne roller is just clever, and means you don't have to keep track of a bunch of blades and parts to perform different functions. It's also relatively easy to clean and store compared to more industrial grade ones. So far, it's had no problem with carrots or potatoes, sliced both smooth and wavy/waffle, and English cukes practically slice themselves on it. I like that the thickness of the slices can be adjusted between 0 & 9mm. It also has two sizes for julienne cutting. The little legs that hold the slicer up at an angle seem pretty sturdy. It does a great job slicing softer veggies but things like potatoes or carrots require more effort to push through the blade. Regardless the whole process is nerve-racking, I use the cut resistant glove that comes with it. There's a little plastic "pusher" that comes with it, but I've never used it. Amazing product! It comes super sharp so be cared!!! It does come with gloves and a piece to help hold it so you don't get cut, but still take caution. Works like it supposed to and is great quality.

It sliced pears and onions very well. The dial is nice. But when cleaning it if you follow the instructions it causes the blade cylinder to fly into the air. The blade cylinder is covered with little knives so this is very dangerous. Then when the blade cylinder hit the ground it broke into 7 pieces. The tiny piece of plastic that held it together broke so now the whole unit is broken. Also the included cut proof gloves are only lightly cut proof. ... show more

I wanted a cabbage shredder and the ones with three blades are difficult to use. So, I did a little research and ordered this one. Because it has an adjustable blade, I was able to shred the cabbage nice and thin. I shredded 10 lbs of cabbage, got it in the fermenting crock and cleaned everything up in less than two hours. As long as you follow the instructions, it is very safe to use. I used it only with the glove for a minute, but it cut through the glove (didn't cut me), so I went back to the tool that comes with the mandoline. Very sharp, very smooth to use. Directions to use this product are terrible I don’t think there was much thought going into the three recipes that was given with the product. At the most I would consider maybe using one of them. Maybe you could find a person that works for your company that owns one. Let him rewrite your pamphlet
