  • Full review, by an intermediate skater
Color: Kicktail (Black)
As someone who's been on many boards, but never owned one, I consider myself to be an intermediate skater when it comes to long boarding. For a point of reference, I'm a 24yr old, 6 ft tall, 215 pound Male with size 11 shoes, and I've put 10 miles on this board. Here's my full review: -Shipping: 6 days. Which is fast, because that's CA -> PA (across the country) -Packaging: the packaging could've been better, sure. But my board still came in unscathed. I'm impressed, especially considering the journey it took to get to my house. Now let's take a look at the Board -Deck: Wow. I mean, wow. The grip on the surface is equivalent, if not better, than most grip tapes and surfaces I've experienced. It's sturdy, stable, and strong. Very supportive, slightly concave for comfort. -Trucks: seem sturdy enough. Nothing super impressive, but nothing that will disappoint either. The bushings inside allow for pretty smooth turning. -Wheels: are awesome. Larger, softer wheels are fantastic for cruising, and these wheels fit the bill. Perfect for cracks in the concrete, seams in the sidewalk, or pebbles, rocks, and small sticks and branches in your way (although, avoid branches if you can). I experienced no wheel bite as I coasted along. -Bearings: pretty good for what you pay for, honestly. If you're just learning, stick with these. Just loosen the wheels by a quarter turn, and you'll do great. If you have more experience and want to maximize the distance you can get per push, feel free to upgrade. I haven't yet, and I'm still enjoying my ride! But I'm thinking about it. Overall experience: -turning: very easy, very smooth. Just expect wider turns, or play with your trucks and bushings (or buy new ones). Super Tight turns won't come naturally for this board right out of the box. -comfort: definitely comfortable. If you're brand new to the game, expect some discomfort after a bit of boarding simply because you aren't used to it. It doesn't mean you're doing something wrong! -Carving: similar to turning, but used differently, this board is a pretty decent, dare I say, pretty great carver. Supports you well, too. -coasting: on a flat, smooth surface like a parking lot or street, you can expect to get about 10 seconds of riding time before needing to push again. That's pretty good. If you're on even a slight hill, you can potentially double that output, which is really nice. All in all, I really recommend this board, as of right now. I'll return with an update and a change of rating if I need to. ... show more

  • Awesome Board
Color: Kicktail (Black)
Bought two of the 44 inch Kicktail Cruiser boards. One for my 14 yo daughter for her birthday. One for me, so my daughter and I can board together. Both arrived quickly and in great condition. No scratches, nicks, or dings. My daughter has never ridden a skateboard. She was able to learn easily on this board. She has great balance, probably due to several years of karate, and never once fell. I did tighten the trucks on her board about 1.5 turns tighter than when it arrived, to make it easier for her to learn to ride. I haven't ridden a board in almost 30 years. I'm 6'6 and about 230lbs. I tightened my trucks 3/4 turn. The board is solid and feels stable. I was able to quickly get back to doing some tricks. The boards length made tricks a little more tricky. But, tricks are do-able, with both the nose and tail flipped up slightly. It is more a carver, and not a 31 inch trick board. It is a great hybrid between a trick board, and a true long board. It has been a lot of fun to ride. The wheels are soft-ish, making it great for street riding, across sand and small gravel, and traversing uneven sidewalk squares, and 6 inch brick pavers. Never once did I have a dreaded small rock lock up a wheel. However, I doubt you can make these wheels do four-wheel slides. The wheels grip, very well. You'll also never worry about numb feet or ankles from asphalt vibration, making long distance rides a breeze on this board. ... show more

  • Wonderful starter board for an old school skater
Color: Kicktail (Red)
Ive been riding skateboards since about 1985 or so... I had to quit in 2010 due to some knee injuries. Ive gained weight and my knees have only gotten worse. I decided to get this to try and "rehab" my legs. I figure if I start slow and just keep pushing (gently) I should build the muscles back up in my legs and around my knees. So far, so good. This thing gets 5 stars for the price and the fact that it comes complete. The bearings aren't super fast and that's probably a good thing since its a "beginner" board. I did take it to a small hill nearby and that slow turned to fast real quick. This thing is BIG and its SOLID. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody wanting a good funny's time. ... show more

  • Impressive for larger/heavier riders
Color: Kicktail (Blue)
Alright, so I just started riding skateboards with my 6 year old son. I bought a cheap drop longboard to learn with him. One misstep and I split the deck on that board.... Oops. I should have checked the weight limit. I'm 6' and about 250 lbs so I had a hard time finding an entry-level board that could support me that wasn't going to cost me >$100. The one thing I knew was that I wanted a longboard for going on trails. After finding a handful of replacement decks from my drop, I found this board on Amazon. It cost less than buying a new deck and grip tape, and it came with wheels, bearings, and trucks. So I decided to give it a try. It's a very nice looking board. I was nervous about the "clear grip" but it seems to be holding up well. It's kind of like sand in a clear gloss coating. The board doesn't seem to complain about my weight at all, so their max weight seems to be accurate. Not sure how long the grip will last, and it seems like the wheels might be wearing a bit already. They're pretty soft wheels, which makes them great for our rough street, but not great for longevity... The bearings are OK. Nothing like the Bones Reds I put on my kid's board, but good enough that I didn't feel the need to immediately replace them. I realize it's just the style of board, but my one complaint about this board is that it's really high. It leads to pretty quick leg fatigue, but I think with some practice my endurance will build. The length and height of the board make me think this wouldn't be a great board for shorter people. I did see someone on the trail the other day with a similar board. He was approximately my size though... Overall I've been very happy with this board, and feel like it has helped me to learn to longboard. ... show more
