This Magical Butter Machine Coconut Oil comes in a sealed jar. This is a refined coconut oil, so it is white when slid and has very little scent. This oil has a smoke point of about 400 degrees, making it useful for stovetop cooking as well as baking in the oven. I have found that this oil works wonderfully for cooking and does not make my food taste like coconut. Since coconut oil is high in saturated fats, I make sure to balance it with other oils. Very strong but not too intense coconut butter. While coconut butter is typically very intense and spreadable this particular brand not so much. Buyer beware that coconut butter is not interchangeable with coconut oil. Think peanut oil and peanut butter. I used it in conjunction with butter added to my cheesecake recipe but because the flavor is strong I didn’t use that much and my Oreo crust came together nicely and when the cheesecake was done I didn’t really taste the coconut butter, which is exactly what I wanted. This was packaged in an vinyl envelope all by itself, and I was glad that it was because even though the seal covering the oil was still tight, there was some minor leakage in the packaging. I could tell where, so I wasn't concerned with tampering - it could be that it was ordered and transported when it was quite hot outside, and, of course, coconut oil turns to liquid as the temperature soars. This coconut oil can be used for cooking if you don't like the coconut oil flavor or smell and can be used in any type of dish. We use it regularly and love it! I have also scooped some out and put it in some small plastic ware with a tight lid and used it as a makeup remover and it removes my mascara, even waterproof, quite well and my skin feels soft and smooth afterwards. This does seem to be a little expensive for refined coconut oil because I have bought unrefined coconut oil at about the same price; however, it still works very well and I like that it's a tall jar, so it's easy to find in my cupboard when I need it. ... show more

This Magical Butter Machine Refined Coconut Oil is solid, white, and odorless. The jar arrived with some leakage. The lid was still screwed on, but there was some oil on the outside. Upon unscrewing the lid, the inner seal was clearly not attached anymore. It doesn't seem like any sort of tampering or safety issue, but the product needs a better jar. It's cooler here now, so the oil is currently solid. It can be melted for various recipes. It has no perceptible odor. It's great for baking or even hand cream. It's a versatile ingredient. Like all coconut oils, this one from Magical Butter is solid at room temperature -- unless that gets over 76 degrees. Because this is refined, not virgin, coconut oil, it has a smoke point high enough to use on the stovetop. It also has a neutral flavor since the refining process has removed the coconut taste, making it suitable for people who don't like or want the taste of coconut in their food. Although you could also use it for DIY beauty products, I have not tried it. Mine stays in the kitchen. Its color is not bright white, but it is white.     • Delicious nutty/sweet taste.
The oil is sooo smooth and not grainy like other brands I’ve used. It's fantastic and adds a nice undertone to my cooking. I use it in place of vegetable and corn/canola oil. I also use it for making stovetop popcorn. It would work well in a stir crazy popcorn popper, too. Much healthier and there are so many uses; just google the ways you can use this.     • Good quality refined coconut oil
I received the Magical Butter Machine Coconut Oil in exchange for this review. In my house, I use coconut oil in many ways. Sometimes for cooking, since the oil is well suited to sauteeing things. As my "Seasoning coat" for my cast iron cookware. To restore and help build up the cooked-on oil coating that keeps cast iron rust-free and practically nonstick when kept up[ properly. (Coconut oil is the most common oil in "seasoning paste" sold for this job) I also use coconut oil in spa crafts and homemade soap. This particular coconut oil IS a refined oil, so it is a creamy white color, but has very little coconut aroma. The flavor is neutral, which is good for when making sugar lip scrubs since I like the flavoring agents I add to take center stage. it also helps add a nice opaque whiteness to handmade soaps. I really appreciated that the jar was shipped packed inside a plastic zip-top bag since it was rather warm when it was delivered, and that helped ensure that the jar wouldn't make things messy if the jar leaked at all. I mainly use coconut oil in sweets that I'm making and want to make sure that they set well since coconut oil sets firmly at higher temperatures than butter. This worked well for my purposes because it has no strong scent or taste so it doesn't give a coconutty flavor to chocolate. I liked that its profile is close to neutral.
