Description

The Magic Chef 1.5 cu. ft. compact electric dryer is just what you need when you have small laundry loads and do not have tons of space for a laundry setup. Its compact, space-saving design makes it perfect for apartments, dorms or even RVs. For added convenience, you can mount it on the wall or place it on your countertop. It uses a standard 110-Volt (120 VAC, 15 Amp) outlet, eliminating the need for special wiring that is required with many other dryers. Two heat levels plus Air Dry provide options for proper fabric care. Four timer settings offer versatile drying options.

  • great things come in small packages
Magic Chef MCSDRY15W 1.5 cu. ft. Laundry Dryer, White What can I say? It does what it's designed to do and does it well considering it's size. It's quite the power saver using only a maximum of 850 watts which is less than the average hair dryer. It does have a high and low heat setting and according to my kill-a-watt, the low setting runs at about 500 watts. It does take a little longer than your average sized dryer but for those of us who don't have hookups or need something small due to space availability, it's an excellent choice. It's definitely not big enough for more than a few shirts, couple towels/jeans, etc but it's a lot better than stringing lines around your house to hang dry clothing or having to rely on communal laundry equipment. It's definitely a quiet unit and compliments the 0.9 cu.ft. Magic Chef washer I bought to go along with it quite nicely. The capacity of both units is close enough that a full load in the wash easily fits in this dryer. It's not speedy by any means, but the average load seems to dry within about 60-70 minutes if I start the timer at 200 minutes which is in the range of it's hottest setting. It fits the set of flannel sheets from my full size bed, and I would assume it would fit at least one sheet for a queen size if not both. The product description does omit that it includes a 3"-4" adapter which I purchased separately and didn't need. This adapter allows you to connect a standard 4" dryer hose directly to the unit which has a 3" exhaust opening. All in all, it's a great product that fits in the limited space I had available and now I can avoid having to worry about having quarters for laundry or having to wait for an available machine. One thing to note is that this dryer does not have an end of cycle buzzer which for me is a great feature since I live in a studio apartment and the location I had available is against a shared wall with another tenant. Without laundry hookups I didn't want to bring attention to the fact that I have it. The box I received the dryer in is a plain box with only the model printed on the front and rear, the box dimensions and weight. Inside the box there is another box for the dryer which does have both the model number which is the same printed on the exterior box as well as an outline imagine of the dryer and states "Compact Dryer". This made it very easy to bring in without bringing attention to what I actually had. All in all this is a great unit that seems to work well. ... show more

  • Small and convenient, works well
We purchased this little dryer to go along with the washer we got for our small apartment since we are having a new baby. We have two bathrooms so we use the sink area in one for the laundry. I’ve only done a few washes so far, but it works pretty great! Dried 3 adult shirts and several pairs of underwear/socks and a few kids shirts/pants in about 20 minutes. I only fill it up about half way (so obviously depends on size of clothing). Works great. We line dry the larger items, and when slightly damp then throw them in to tumble around and come out soft and not stiff. Will still need to dry towels at laundromat I think, might only handle one towel at a time that is already partially dry. Fantastic for our little apartment! ... show more

  • Great little dryer that works well in our RV!
This little dryer is well made and a great quality for the price. The size of the dryer was perfect to mount above our washer in our RV. It is small and requires that you cut your loads in half compared to home washing and drying, but just about perfect for 2 people travelling in an RV. Sure beats drying on a rack or taking your clothes to a dirty laundromat. This is the second Magic Chef product I have purchased (I also purchased a small refrigerator/freezer for my garage) and I am quite happy with the quality and reliability. ... show more

  • A little small but gets the job done; does NOT come with exhaust hose or dryer balls
This unit pairs well with a 0.9 cu. ft. compact/portable washer; as long as you don't overload the washer, the dryer will dry what you wash, but you might still want to split the dryer load as there's not a lot of room in there and it fills up quickly (1.5 is not quite twice 0.9). It also seems to take a while to fully heat up; you have to turn the timer all the way up to maximum (200) to get the highest heat. It's pretty quiet; "shimmies" slightly while it's running but not worrisome. I have mine vented to the outside through a window vent, which works nicely; note that this unit does not come with an exhaust hose, so you'll need that too, although it does come with the elbow adapter for the fan on the back. Also, I have read here and elsewhere that this unit is supposed to come with a set of dryer balls, which is odd because mine didn't. ... show more

  • Cat hair.
I bought a Panda washing machine when my car broke down three years ago. Great product by the way. But when you have fur babies in your home the hair can be a huge problem. Drying your face with a towel that has been air dried is NASTY. My work clothes were covered in hair. My black clothes, unwearable. I was very happy to finally get a dryer that I could use in my little apartment as I don't have 220 wiring. I couldn't wait to try it out so even though I was sick as a dog today, I decided to to a load of laundry. I did a couple of towels, black socks, underwear, etc. It removed most of the pet hair, and it didn't take forever to do it either. I'm very happy so far....I did the litmus test for removal of cat hair. A pair of black jeans that sat on my cat tower for three weeks , or more. I was going to toss them in the trash, but I thought they would be the perfect thing to try. I dried them until they were just damp. No cat hair at all. Works great on cotton, not so much on synthetic fabric. My aprons are still covered in cat hair although I did give this a extra star for the black jeans. If you have a apartment sized washer washer with a spin dryer this should work well for your needs. My panda washer is no longer available, but I would reccommend that brand as well ... show more
