๐Ÿš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

This machine presents a mixed bag of experiences for purchasers, from high praises for its capabilities in compact spaces and superior delivery experience to critical feedback on its durability and design flaws. Two common themes emerge: satisfaction with how much laundry it can handle despite its size and frustration over mechanical issues and design decisions like the lack of lighting in compact spaces and flimsy components.

Pros

  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Excellent delivery experience and communication
  • ๐Ÿ”„ Handles large volumes despite compact size
  • ๐Ÿ”‡ Relatively quiet operation, especially the spin cycle
  • ๐Ÿ‘ต User-friendly for those not tech-savvy
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Old school controls, no unnecessary apps
  • ๐ŸŒŸ Good for small spaces, offering more room than expected

Cons

  • ๐Ÿšซ Missing internal lighting, making it hard to see inside
  • ๐Ÿ’” Durability concerns: transmission issues and flimsy knobs
  • ๐Ÿ” Washer can get stuck on a cycle or unexpectedly empty water
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Can make loud or strange noises during operation
  • ๐Ÿ’ง Issues with water levels either too low or regulations causing dissatisfaction in washing effectiveness

Should I Buy It?

If the space-saving aspect and handling large loads in compact units are top priorities, and you're willing to overlook potential issues with mechanical reliability and design oversights, then this might be a suitable choice. However, considering the reports of significant mechanical failures and the mixed reviews on functionality, buyers should proceed with caution and weigh the importance of reliability and ease of use against the benefits of compact size and capacity.

  • Perfect
The delivery experience of this machine was incredible. It not only came early but I had communication throughout. I wish more companies worked this way! Machine is great too!

  • Old school washing in a tight space
After months of using this machine I can only add a few negatives, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Both the dryer and the washer could have and should have had lighting installed. These compact units are often installed in a closet and if you actually want to see into the washer especially, you will have to install you own lighting. On the plus side it is amazing how large of a volume both the washer and dryer are capable of handling. The controls are old school which is perfect for my tech-challenged 72 year old wife. If you are looking for something with an app this isn't your machine. Relatively attractive, very efficient, effective and affordable. If it lasts as long as my last GE washer dryer stacked unit I'll be dead before this one breaks. The wash cycle does make an indescribably strange mechanical sound but the spin cycle is extremely well balanced and relatively quiet. 4+ stars ... show more

  • Decent machine but not for the money
The machine runs decent but will randomly get stuck on a cycle or just suddenly dump out all of the water. Knob is flimsy plastic and already broke on the dryer.

  • Excellent for small spaces!
Wish I bought this a long time ago. We have limited space and couldnt fit a traditional washer and dryer in a small "closet" type space in our dining room. This set fits perfectly with more space left to offer. The washer and dryer both work excellent at the same time. Clothes are thoroughly washed and dried. I always keep it on the bulky setting because wash a lot of big loads. It's surprisingly quiet compared to other units, no banging around. I was concerned it would be smaller and I would have to do more loads, but it turns out I can wash more at once! Installation was relatively easy. ... show more

  • NEVER BUY GE! Major issue after only 3 months
The transmission went out after 3 months. The repairman stated that they go out in these models "quite frequently". Definitely do a lot of research before dropping the money for this unit. UPDATE: STILL NO RESOLUTION ON REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION AFTER 2 MONTHS OF ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR. GE WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. DO NOT BUY A GE APPLIANCE EVER. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SERVICE/RESPONSE FROM ALL PARTIES INVOLVED. REPLACEMENT PART DUE SEPTEMBER 8TH!!!! UNIT BROKE MARCH 1ST - RIDICULOUS UPDATE #2: Transmission was replaced May 15th. Just stopped working again June 16th - what a piece of junk ... show more

It makes a rather loud intermittent whining noise when it agitates. Works as expected otherwise..

  • Very Disappointed....!
This review is partially complaining about all of the modern washing machine choices because of unrealistic regulations that focus too much on "saving water" ... I LOVED my previous (1999) Twin sets of Stackable Laundry Centers by Kenmore - Whirlpool. Fast-forward to 2021- it's nice to save water when you can, - to me that's what the choices for high, medium, & low water levels are for. I always used the "low" water setting with my older units whenever it made sense. but when saving water renders unacceptably dirty laundry & an inability to "soak" -- I am sooo miserable doing laundry ...! The total cost for my new GE gas dryer laundry center with installation & removal of those 2 older Laundry Centers that I LOVED - was $1,850 - & since there's essentially no way to "soak" with modern Laundry Centers, GE or other brands - I say switch to ANY other good name brand NON LAUNDRY CENTER SINGLETON washing machine that allows a soak cycle, & hopefully indicates a way to direct the machine to provide more water ( I prefer top load - washing machines). The Maytag non-stack top load we ordered for our mountain home around 2017 does allow the basin to fill fuller, if you call the help line & ask them for the ( secret ? ) way to do that -- maybe you put the setting on "bulky item"...? But, Covid-19 caused many "good brands" to have severely back-logged delivery dates at the precise time I needed my machine. Who can bear to wait weeks or months, or "unknown" delivery estimations, when they need new washer / dryer units yesterday...? Who wants to blow nearly $2 thousand dollars - on a washer with new fangled short washing cycles that you can't even begin to understand how to control...? I think at least some of these newer machines help you keep doing laundry in User-Friendly ways that you can feel more confident will actually clean your clothing in gentle, yet thorough ways. We Consumers should fight hard for our rights to have clean laundry, & washing machines that are user-friendly - we are smart enough to put water levels on "low" - if the job calls for it..! So this is fight we need to take-up with our Legislators and water-usage Regulators. When 21 years passed while my 2 previous laundry centers sat side-by-side working VERY WELL, ... I knew the newer technology would take some adjustments on my part - but, I feel like if we can send people to outer-space ; then we ought to be able to offer Consumers washing machines that can conserve water when possible - but that also allow Consumers to elect to use more water, if that's what the job requires, & to allow the Consumer to SOAK certain loads when they want to, whether that's during the wash cycle, or during the rinse cycle. ... show more

  • Low water level, too low! Leaked all over the floor!
April 20, 2022 Update at a year and 14 days old: Washer bangs around terribly with the slightest off balanced load. Just pumped water all over the floor. Repair man coming out. First review Oct 2021. Itโ€™s a lighter weight unit but itโ€™s just hubby and me at home anymore. That was acceptable. The thing that is not acceptable is the low water level. Iโ€™ve had to rewash loads, fill loads with a water pitcher and have my clothes come out with patches of soap or lint. Iโ€™ve called a repair man but after looking at the owners manual Iโ€™m not sure the water level isnโ€™t where itโ€™s regulated to be because the gov wants to control your water usage. ... show more
