The fountain looks nice and works like advertised. I put it in this old xmas tree stand bottom that I found and painted it and it sits on my deck railing. The only problem is if you don’t have a large enough bowl to put it in, the water spills out past the sides and needs replacing quite often. I take it out of the water when I’m not on the deck enjoying it; otherwise it continues to try to work after the bowl is empty. It does need full sun to work, as advertised. I have noticed when I take it out of the water and lay it on the deck in then shade when I’m not using it, it makes a buzzing noise and eventually got really loud. I turned it upside down and laid it back down. The noise stopped. I haven’t had that problem since. ... show more

    • Great fit, easy to use, but you do need direct sunlight for all day
This is so easy to set up. I am letting it float in the bird bath. I havent seen any birds using it yet, but I am sure it takes time. It makes a quite noise when the water comes out, but I learned quickly you need LOTS of sun for it to flowing all the time. With 4 hours of direct sunlight it will go on and off with the water spray. But for the price I am very happy and it does what it says it does, but remember lots of sunlight. ... show more

    • Wonderful little fountain for the price.
I put this fountain in the bird bath. It really looks great and the birds still drink out of the bird bath and take baths in it. It makes the bird bath look expensive. It is fun to watch it go high when the sun goes out and low when the sun dims. One of the nozzles had a blocked hole when I bought it but still looks great from a distance. There aren't many cool things you can get for this price and I recommend getting one of these. ... show more

This is a nice product, but it’s really sensitive to shadow. If someone walks past it or shadows from a tree are on it the fountain will shut off. If the sun is not directly on it, then the pressure is really low and doesn’t work as properly. It’s only working to it’s full potential around 11am-2pm. Would be nice if it could hold a charge ... show more

I have farm animals which require drinking water that tends to be stagnant at times. I needed something that could help move the water causing the water to be inhabitable for mosquitoes. A fountain is a great way to accomplish this without affecting or exposing animals or the environment to any kind of pesticide. I selected this fountain as I prefer solar energy and the size was ideal for the trough. I gave 4 stars because the disadvantage is it needs direct sunlight to run and doesn’t reserve any of the solar energy to continue running. It’s also not as sensitive as I prefer to the daylight on cloudy days so it does little funny spurts (which does crack us up) and it briefly diminishes in flowing power when shadows pass over. But over all I am very happy with this fountain. It’s lovely to hear the running water and the animals seem to enjoy it and most importantly it accomplishes exactly what I needed to have done. As written this pump started working within seconds of placing it in my bird bath. I have had no issues with the understanding that low sunlight means lower output. I will point out that this pump was putting out a small but constant fountain in the rain and sleet in February (I have a heater). So I'm impressed. The solar panels got a little cloudy after 2 months, but a quick splash of vinegar cleared that up immediately. Also just got finished removing and clearing the filter and back to full flow. I use it as a bubbler so that water spray outside the bird bath is minimal. Purchased this to keep mosquitos out and all I needed was water movement. All in all, I am very impressed with this fountain. ... show more

This was an easy solar fountain to put together. It does exactly what the advertisement says. It does not work when the clouds are going by, but does a great job when the sun is bright.
