  • Versatile. Fully capable.
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
I would have gave this speaker 10 stars if I could. I purchased a more expensive 8” studio monitor sub, and I returned it in 3 hours because I was adjusting bass by hand at the back of the sub. This guy has a cable remote. Perfect for desk top. (The remote) This sub will roll your room in good bass even at high levels. (I don’t turn any equipment beyond 75%,) but it ROCKS! Perfect with my existing monitors. Depending on how long it lasts, (I’m going on 3 months and at frequent high levels) the Bluetooth function is also killer convenient , if it lasts, Mackie Nailed it and knocked it out of the park. Hats off to Mackie! (please send free gear for mentioning your brand!!) ... show more

  • Wow!
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
I matched this with the Mackie CR4-X monitors, and - damn. My mistake - the sub is WAY bigger than I expected, but it is amazing. With the CR4s, it is the best sound I've ever heard from my computer. I'm going to embarrass myself by saying that this is the first time I can tell the difference between an MP3 and a good-quality audio file. The sub is way bigger than my room needs, but it is a gorgeous, huge, smooth sound without being annoying. My old sub SOUNDED like a sub - this sounds musical. I love it. I absolutely love it. ... show more

  • Solid bass even at low volumes. Just what I needed.
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
Bought this to supplement a CR-Stealthbar for playing music while I work. The CR8s has plenty of power and really fills out the bottom that the smaller stealthbar is lacking. I'm loving the new setup!! Even when the volume is down low, I still get the full deep bass. Only down side was finding the right hookup with the stealthbar. When connecting Bluetooth to the stealthbar with output to the sub inputs, the bass was barely there, even with sub volumes at max. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. However switching Bluetooth to the CR8s, with output to the stealthbar, it has more than enough power. The external volume control is a nice touch, but probably not necessary. I wish they offered a basic version without it. Bottom line.... Would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • A lot for the price.
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
I paired this up with the CR3-X for exclusive use on a turn table. The bass fills the room nicely and the independent sub/main volume is awesome. The Bluetooth is just another plus, and it works great, although it is primarily used for a wired turn table. Sound quality is great for the price. Mostly listen to big band, jazz, and classic rock LPs. ... show more

  • Volume/Gain Dependent Sub
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
Let me explain. The CRDV desktop remote is really nice but is a bit intermittent when it comes to audio;it sometimes sounds like a compressor is on so you have to adjust it just right. Also, the sub volume on the CRDV is dependant on the non-sub gain. In other words, if you crank the gain into the sub and only try to turn up the sub volume, you won't hear the sub until the top volume adjustment is turned up first. So it's it's a dependent dial. Not a huge problem, but something you should know. Once I figured that out, and once I got my gain structure correct for my whole system, I have really enjoyed this product since. ... show more

  • Sub did not work
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
Spent hours trying to get it to work. Premium balanced cables, common grounding, bluetooth, hardwired, etc. Almost zero sound came out of the sub. Only when everything was maxxed would I get some sound. Certainly no thump. None. Adjusting the knob on the back of the sub did nothing. When connected with most recent version of bluetooth, there would be a lag on video. When hard wired, there would be static noise. No static noise when only using my CR-X 5s. Returned the sub for Amazon refund. ... show more

  • Perfection
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
Just what I needed. The reason I got this is because I have studio monitors from Mackie and this is the perfect sub. The studio monitors are fine, I just needed more bass and this subwoofer does just that. I have a small room and I can't even crank it up too much because it shakes my whole house. If you're like me and have an USB interface, I suggest using the interface trs cables to give the sub input and use the red and white L/R for output to connect to the speakers. If you don't have an interface, I think it's easier to setup because you don't have so many knobs to turn. They give you a 3.5mm jack to plug into your PC, then you can give signal to sub. Currently, my actual speakers are set at about 50-60% volume, the USB interface is my main driver knob and the CRDV from the mackie sub is maxed out(both sub and volume) so I only focus on the usb interface knob, if that makes sense. You'll have to play around to find the right balance where you can hear the sound smoothly. I've also messed around with the crossover and for my room and speakers specifically I find that at 120Hz is better. If your speakers already have lots of bass, you can try 80Hz crossover or even lower. Took me less than 30min to setup and test it. Recommend this product! ... show more

  • A proper studio sub
Size: 8-Inch Subwoofer Style: Bluetooth
Don't expect the boom, especially when you plug your full range monitors into it, as a 3 point system. That is the way it is supposed to work. It separates the frequencies, it handles the bass and sends everything it can't handle to the full range speakers. If your music doesn't have big low end, it won't register here, no matter how much you turn up the sub or it's settings, making you know your mix, meaning it's accurate. Unlike other non-studio subs where you can artificially add low end and never have a good indication of how much bass your mix has. I have it hooked to a pair of Mackie MR6 IIIs - sounds perfect. The remote volume and bass control knob is great. ... show more
