I have not yet used this rod, but I’m loving it straight out of the box! This is a one piece rod that is very long, but unlike some of my other long rods, this was is especially light! This seems like a fairly well-built rod that has pros and cons, like any other. The look is nice and it could be mistaken for a costlier rod at first glance. It is very lightweight, but a little unbalanced (back heavy) when affixed with a reel. The Fuju eyelets/guides are nice to see. To many times manufacturers skimp on one of the most important components. The alignment is straight and the line glides easily through. There is an odd Directional texture to the rod. It feels abrasive in the upward direction and smoother in the downward. This does grip the hands nicely, but I worry that the texture could be abrasive with line rubbing across it. I ran some fluorocarbon up it a few times and I could feel some rough spots on the line. This probably would not be as big of an issue with a spinning rod, due to the downward facing guides. I think I would have also preferred a rounded but in this. The hexagonal design is not overly pointy, but it could be an annoyance if you keep the but pressed against you. I do this for leverage when kayak fishing. The flex and action of the rod seems correct for the size and specification. I did not over-bend it, so durability is unknown at this time. That is about all I have to say about this rod until I get it into the water and land a few fish with it. If it ends up failing, I will come back here and update this review. ... show more

This fishing rod is very solid and made very well. Of all the custom rods I've built, this is by far the best stock fishing rod that I got to try and use. The performance of the rod is really good, and you'll get solid strikes with no effort in bring the fish in because of its stiff spine. It's a medium heavy so it should really haul. The reel seat is very unique looking, and it holds your fishing reel very solidly. The grips are fused on there as well having a great shape and position in order for you to get great casts. The finishing of the rod is perfect with no weird epoxy coatings (no bubbles) and the wraps over the guide feet are clean. All the guides are straight and perfectly placed with the correct spacing. As for the guides, Fuji guides are not the best out there, but these are pretty decent. I'll be swapping them out in the future to better guides. Overall, if you want a really solid rod, this is the rod to get for something that's factory made. It's good for those who are good at fishing and it marries up to a size 3000 reel easily. ... show more

I have a few Handing rods and have found them all to be a consistently excellent value. This 1 piece, medium action rod is no exception. The design and workmanship are excellent. The blanks are solid quality, and I especially like that Handing chooses a quality Fuji guide set. This 6' 6" medium fast rod has a nimble, snappy action. The reel seat is well designed, but I did take notice that the moveable reel foot ring is not reinforced with a steel outer liner......I'm hopeful that this is not a long term durability concern. The rod butt is a stylized, hollow plastic affair with a beveled end that creates a slightly sharp edge. I would have preferred a rounded butt end made of durable composite material. All things considered, I just can't deny the excellent performance to price ratio this rod provides. Definitely recommended. ... show more

The M1 one piece casting rod from Handing is so lightweight and balanced. It utilizes top of the line Fuji reel seat and line guides and features a really cool and unique 24 ton carbon fiber blank. The blank is technically "unfinished" by not being painted or varnished and that allows you to feel all the grooves and ridges of the carbon fiber. And because of this I feel that this aids in the sensitivity and weight reduction to offer a really nice feeling rod. After catching a few fish, I can vouch for the strength, backbone, and action of the rod and confirm that it performs like comparable rods from big name brands that cost 3 times as much.
